Goal said Betis raised their asking price to £30m, but negotiations were still slow. This left the La Liga club disappointed and considering switching to another target.
Betis president Angel Haro shared about the current situation: "From a financial perspective, everything needs to be within our capabilities. Buying players depends on the price that MU offers."
Haro also said that a loan deal would be more feasible than a permanent deal, given United's current financial needs. "We are trying to bring Antony, but if it doesn't work out, I don't think it's a failure. It's difficult to bring a player of quality at a high cost," added the Betis president.
After a successful season on loan in Spain, Betis are keen to secure Antony's services on a permanent deal. The Brazilian striker is also keen to return to Betis this summer.
Betis are battling it out with Atletico Madrid for Antony's signature, with a move to Spain a likely scenario for Antony this summer, either on loan or in a permanent deal.
Antony has now been removed from the list of players participating in MU's tour of the US. The striker is currently in Manchester and waiting for the opportunity to join Betis.
