This is also an opportunity to introduce to local and international friends the unique and diverse cultures of ASEAN member countries, while also demonstrating the spirit of solidarity and strong development aspirations of the Association.
Attending the Ceremony were Consuls General and representatives of Consulates General of ASEAN countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
On the guest side, there were leaders of the Foreign Affairs Department of Guangdong Province, leaders of the Foreign Affairs Agency of Guangzhou City, leaders of the Trade Promotion Committee of Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City, trade and tourism promotion agencies of ASEAN countries in Guangzhou, Consuls General and representatives of Consulates General of more than 60 countries in Guangzhou, and many leaders of enterprises and associations of ASEAN countries and China.

Previously, the Consulate General of ASEAN countries in Guangzhou also organized the exhibition of booths of 10 member countries in the morning of the same day. Each booth has its own identity with a variety of handicraft products and traditional items, publications promoting the country and people, and traditional cuisine of each member country.

Coordinating the event, the Consulates General of ASEAN countries in Guangzhou cleverly used historical and cultural elements typical of each member country, introducing everything from traditional dances to songs imbued with national identity.
Guests attending the event not only got to see, but also “live in the ASEAN space” through exchange activities, to have a deep and comprehensive view of the cultural diversity but still united in ASEAN solidarity.
This is a living testament to a united, diverse, yet forward-looking regional community, not only sharing culture, but also building long-term development opportunities together.

In the afternoon of the same day, the ASEAN-China Tourism Cooperation Workshop with the theme "Sharing best practices and recommendations to enhance tourism experience" was held.
Delegates attending the workshop shared the common assessment that tourism cooperation is a pillar in the cooperation between ASEAN and China. For ASEAN, tourism accounts for more than 12% of the region's GDP and provides 42 million jobs. For China, tourism contributed more than 11% of GDP before the Covid-19 outbreak and supported tens of millions of jobs.

Proposals made at the workshop included that ASEAN and China should join hands to invest in, upgrade infrastructure and facilitate cross-border transport; apply smart technology and digital payments; enhance local cultural integration and ensure environmental sustainability to improve the quality of tourism through regional cooperation.
