The sound echoes through many generations
During these days of July, musician Le Thong Nhat introduces the work “Khuc hat chieu nghiep trang” based on the poem by Nguyen Quang Thieu, written about a mother whose child sacrificed on the battlefield, performed by Meritorious Artist Tien Lam. The poem was composed 40 years ago, when the author was a soldier, and is given a new, passionate melody, as a word of encouragement and gratitude to the Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, receiving the sympathy of the public.
Also from sincere emotions, musician Nguyen Anh Tri composed two new songs “Tuoi 20 da thanh song nuoc” and “Khuc ca ngay ve lai”, in memory of the children who fell on the sacred and heroic land of Quang Tri of the nation. Musician Giang Son also felt deeply about this topic through the song “Tim cha” from the poem by author Pham Hong Diep, performed by Meritorious Artist Vu Thang Loi. The song is the heart of a child for his father after decades of searching for the remains of his father's martyrs.
On the occasion of the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, Sao Mai singer Khanh Ly released the MV “Con mai voi non song” as a tribute from today’s generation to the heroes who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. The song has a chamber music style, composed by People’s Artist Pham Phuong Thao from Khanh Duong’s poem, arranged by Pham Tuan Anh. The MV was filmed at significant historical sites in Quang Tri such as the Citadel, Thach Han river wharf, Hien Luong bridge - Parallel 17, Truong Son martyrs cemetery…
Previously, People's Artist Quoc Hung and musician Kien Ninh jointly produced the MV "Immortal Heroic Song" based on the poem "Loi Nguoi Ben Song" by veteran Le Ba Duong - who fought at Quang Tri Citadel. The MV recreates the indomitable spirit and fierce patriotism of the soldiers who fought and sacrificed here, contributing to creating an immortal symbol in the history of the Vietnamese revolution.
Recently, there have been many new compositions on the theme of war invalids and martyrs, such as “Singing about beloved Con Dao” (Tran Thanh), “Mai ve cung em” (Duc Chinh), “Anh ve” (music by Ngoc Hoa, poetry by Luu Duc Hai); “Tro ve que huong” (music by Van Cung, poetry by Quang Tien), “Cho mua xuan thanh binh” (music by Nguyen Dang Tai, poetry by Nguyen Xuan Cuu), “Mo gio do tho da ngan thu” (music by Nguyen Huu Minh, poetry by Le Quang Bui)…
Not only famous artists, many young people have also been interested in and composed about this topic. The heroic sacrifices, the wounded soldiers, the sick soldiers, the silent Vietnamese Heroic Mothers... who devoted themselves to peace today are always a strong source of inspiration for musicians and artists to continue composing and performing. Musician Le Thong Nhat shared that July is always a sacred time for him to think about those who sacrificed for national independence. Therefore, the theme of wounded soldiers - martyrs, of loss and noble sacrifice is present in many of his compositions. The new songs on this theme are not only to commemorate, but also a way to remind and arouse patriotism and awareness of national history in today's generation.
Musician Hoang Giai also said that although there have been many classic songs about soldiers, each period has a different way of expressing them. Musicians and artists are constantly researching and innovating to create works that continue to express deep gratitude and move today's and future generations.
The emotion for this topic comes not only from the musicians, but also from the performing artists. People's Artist Pham Phuong Thao recounted the opportunity to go with poet Khanh Duong to Quang Tri, which used to be a fierce battlefield, to perform and do charity work. After returning from the emotional trip, she received a poem and immediately set it to music, creating the song "Con mai voi non song". People's Artist Quoc Hung himself once made the MV "Thien hung ca bat tu" in Quang Tri, so he deeply felt the emotion when art touches the depth of history through the compositions and musical products of his colleagues.
As a veteran singer of revolutionary music, People's Artist Quang Tho expressed his emotion when there were still many new works on the theme of revolutionary war, paying tribute to those who had fallen.
