Al Nassr does everything to please Ronaldo

After completing a £44m deal to sign Joao Felix from Chelsea, Al Nassr have continued to add to their ranks from Portugal.

On the morning of July 28, expert Simão Coutinho officially signed a contract to become the new Sports Director of Al Nassr, marking the completion of an important deal in the leadership of the Saudi Arabian club.

Coutinho, who has long been highly regarded in Europe for his experience and reputation, opened a new chapter in his career when Al Nassr approached and convinced him in the early summer. The Portuguese expert is only 37 years old, but has a close relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo, due to the time they both played at the Sporting CP youth academy.

Coutinho will replace Fernando Hierro - the former Spanish footballer who was previously the sporting director of Al Nassr. Hierro was criticized for his frequent absences in Saudi Arabia and for making many controversial shopping decisions.

Under Hierro, Al Nassr were completely outclassed by domestic rivals. Coutinho is expected to bring experience and strategic vision, helping Al Nassr build a competitive squad, especially when Ronaldo is still the center of the project.

The Saudi Arabian club is thoroughly "Portuguese-izing", having previously recruited coaches Jorge Jesus and Joao Felix, two stars of Portuguese football.
