4 Vietnamese students won medals at the International Biology Olympiad, Vietnam entered the top 10 countries with high scores

Among the 4 medals that the Vietnamese team won at the International Biology Olympiad, there were 1 Gold Medal, 2 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal.

Specifically, Nguyen Luong Thai Duy, an 11th grade student at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Hanoi City, won the Gold Medal with a high score, ranking 7th out of 298 contestants.

Nguyen Huu Thanh, a 12th grade student at Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, Hai Phong City, won the Silver Medal.

Student Bui Hoang Dai Duong, grade 12, Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted, Hue City won the Silver Medal.

Le Hoang Kieu Anh, grade 12 student, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Hanoi City won the Bronze Medal.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, the team has made efforts to overcome many difficulties during the preparation period as well as the exam days at Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines to achieve good results.

The result has put the Vietnamese team in the group of 10 countries with the highest total points. At the same time, it contributes to continuing the impressive series of results at the International Olympic competitions in 2025 in particular and in recent years in general - that is, high achievements in all the competitions that Vietnam sent teams to participate.

The 2025 International Biology Olympiad will be the 36th edition. The competition will take place from July 19 to 27 with the participation of 298 contestants from 81 countries and territories.

To take the exam, candidates will go through two official exam days, including one day of theory exam and four lab rooms.

The two theoretical exams have 85 questions, with topics revolving around practical global issues such as: Environmental pollution, green growth, carbon neutrality, combating climate change, community disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment of some basic diseases according to the principles of precision medicine.

The four practical exam rooms include: Biomedical Sciences, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Ecology and Systematics, and Microbiology.

The Ministry of Education and Training also added that the International Biology Olympiad is often considered the leading comprehensive international competition in natural sciences at high school level worldwide, requiring comprehensive knowledge of Mathematics - Physics - Chemistry - Biology - Environment, along with basic laboratory skills, ranging from the molecular, organismal to the ecosystem and biosphere levels.
