According to a report from the Khanh Son District Medical Center (Khanh Hoa), on April 9, many students from kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools in To Hap town had symptoms of fatigue, nausea, vomiting, and stomachache... after eating street food (including rice rolls and rice balls) in front of To Hap town's Secondary School.

This is rice that Mrs. Bui Thi Luong makes at home, then puts it in a styrofoam box in the morning to sell.

According to Khanh Son District Medical Center, Ms. Luong made 114 rice balls and 28 rice rolls for students from kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools in To Hap town. The children who ate the rice had symptoms of nausea, vomiting, stomachache, diarrhea, etc. and were taken to Khanh Son District Medical Center for initial treatment by teachers and family members. As of 3 p.m., 28 students were hospitalized.

Mr. Bui Xuan Minh - Director of Khanh Hoa Department of Health - said that the students are being treated at the hospital and are in stable health.

"It is very difficult to control street vendors in front of school gates, and it needs to be tightened between agencies and departments. Street vendors are often not inspected for food hygiene, raw material sources, and preservation methods, so food poisoning can easily occur," said Mr. Minh.

According to the leader of Khanh Hoa Department of Health, after the above incident, the interdisciplinary steering committee also urgently met to investigate the food and immediately take samples of the patient's specimens for testing.

As for the two poisoning cases in Nha Trang City on April 1 at Nguyen Van Troi High School and on April 5 at Vinh Truong Primary School and Tran Hung Dao Secondary School, authorities are still waiting to determine the cause and bacteria causing the poisoning.
