On the afternoon of June 20, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) held a meeting with southern sports reporters on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.
In this meeting, VPF General Director - Mr. Nguyen Minh Ngoc announced important information that the play-off match for promotion to V-League season 2024-2025 will take place on June 27.
Accordingly, VPF has come up with two organizational plans before determining exactly which two teams will participate. This is because both the First Division and V-League have not yet determined these two spots, so they have to wait for the final round.
Specifically, option 1: If a club in the Central region meets a club in the Southern region in the 2024-2025 play-off match, the neutral venue chosen to host the play-off match is Thong Nhat Stadium (HCMC).
Option 2: A Central club meets a Northern club in the 2024-2025 play-off match, the neutral venue chosen to host the match is Vinh Stadium ( Nghe An ).
Accordingly, one of the two clubs competing for the runner-up position in the First Division is Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club in the South and PVF-CAND Club in Hung Yen (North). The Binh Phuoc football representative has 41 points, while the second-ranked opponent has 40 points before round 22 on June 21.
The Central club mentioned above is most likely one of three teams in that area: Quy Nhon Binh Dinh, SHB Da Nang or Quang Nam.
The 2024-2025 season play-off match is sponsored by Savabeco Company. VPF also hired 2 foreign referees to officiate this match, including a main referee and a VAR referee.
On June 21, Truong Tuoi Binh Phuoc Club will host Long An Club, while PVF-CAND will face Dong Nai Club. Both matches will take place simultaneously at 4pm.
