On June 19, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) announced the 2026 worlduniversity rankings. Accordingly, Vietnam has 10 schools on this list, an increase of 4 schools compared to last year.

Specifically, Duy Tan University leads with 482nd place, up 13 places, continuing to be the highest ranked school in Vietnam. Following is Ton Duc Thang University with 684th place, up 27 places compared to last year.

Hanoi National University is ranked in group 761-770, Ho Chi Minh City National University is in group 801-850, up 100 places.

Vietnamese universities appearing for the first time in this ranking are Van Lang University, Can Tho University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Da Nang University.

Overall, the US has the most ranked schools with 192, followed by the UK with 90 and China with 72.

This is the 14th consecutive year that the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has maintained its top position. Imperial College London retains its second place. Stanford University is third, up three places. Oxford University and Harvard University are next.

The QS rankings rank more than 1,500 universities from more than 100 countries and territories around the world based on 9 criteria, including: Academic reputation - with the highest weight of 30%); Number of citations/scientific staff (20%). The remaining criteria are Recruitment reputation; Ratio of scientific staff/students; Ratio of international scientific staff; Ratio of international students; International research network; Employment rate of graduates; Sustainable development.
