Yok Don - Where birds nest

Due to the territory stretching across many latitudes, regions in Vietnam have many great differences in biodiversity, scientists based on the characteristics of each region have divided into 9 ecological regions in our country. Among them, the most special is the Central Highlands ecological region, a large center of biodiversity and contains many endemic species!

The Central Highlands has many ecosystems such as: evergreen and semi-evergreen broadleaf forests, grasslands, wetlands, dipterocarp forests and coniferous forests... Of which, dipterocarp forests and coniferous forests are the only types that appear on a large area in the Central Highlands.

Among the 5 National Parks here, Yok Don (in Dak Nong and Dak Lak provinces) is the place with the largest dipterocarp forest habitat. Here there are many rich and diverse species of flora and fauna, adapted to the climate of two rainy and dry seasons.

Around April to October, the rainy season here makes the trees green, blossom and bear fruit, many green grasslands appear, many ponds are flooded, aquatic species from the Serepok River also compete to lay eggs and raise their young.

This is the ideal time for many birds and animals to come and hunt. On the small ponds scattered in the forest, it is easy to see birds such as storks, herons, kingfishers, and eagles gathering around to hunt fish. Some carnivorous birds also come here to hunt small birds, fish-eating animals, and creatures that come here to drink water.
