Family, friends, colleagues mourn

Family, relatives, friends, neighbors and many colleagues were present to send Referee Tran Dinh Thinh to his final resting place.

Last night (August 6), after completing the training course, the referees and supervisors immediately flew to the South and moved to Dinh Quan commune ( Dong Nai province) to pay their respects to their colleague. They also stayed overnight to wait for the farewell of referee Tran Dinh Thinh.

This morning (August 7), another car carrying Mr. Duong Nghiep Khoi - former General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), along with supervisors and head referees will also arrive at the home of referee Tran Dinh Thinh's parents - where the funeral will be held. VPF General Director, Head of the Organizing Committee of professional tournaments in Vietnam Nguyen Minh Ngoc was also present at referee Tran Dinh Thinh's hometown.

In addition to working on the professional football field, referee Tran Dinh Thinh is also a physical education teacher at a school in his hometown of Dong Nai. Many colleagues at the school and students have also visited teacher Thinh in the past few days.

Previously, referee organizations, former players' associations, training centers, classes, etc. sent wreaths to pay tribute to referee Tran Dinh Thinh - a talented and diligent man who devoted his whole life to sports .

The funeral was held in Dinh Quan, Dong Nai.

The funeral of the 43-year-old referee was arranged by VFF and Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) in coordination with the family. The head of the funeral committee is Mr. Nguyen Van Phu - General Secretary of VFF and the deputy head is Mr. Vo Van Hung - Deputy General Director of VPF.

To show gratitude for his contributions, VFF and VPF organized the entire funeral and decided to provide financial support to the family to share some of the burden. Hopefully, this love and support will help the family and relatives of referee Tran Dinh Thinh ease the pain.

Referee Tran Dinh Thinh was born in 1982 (from Ha Nam - now Ninh Binh) and grew up in Dong Nai. He has been involved in football for decades in many roles. He started refereeing in the V-League in 2015 and has since been assigned to many important matches. In 2019, he was recognized as a FIFA-qualified referee. Referee Tran Dinh Thinh also won two consecutive "Bronze Whistle" and "Silver Whistle" titles in the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 V-League seasons.
