Xuan Mai Commune urgently cleans up the environment after flooding

HNP - On September 7, more than 100 officers and soldiers of the Fire Fighting and Rescue Team of Area 28 (Hanoi City Police), Xuan Mai Commune Police, union members, youth, teachers and local residents simultaneously launched an environmental sanitation campaign, cleaning up mud and garbage on roads, alleys and school areas flooded after storm No. 3.

Due to the impact of storms No. 5 and No. 6, the entire Xuan Mai commune had nearly 29,000m of intra-field roads, 17,200m of rural roads, 3 relics, 3 schools, 1 medical station, 1 cultural house flooded under 0.5m; 310 households had their houses flooded and 512 households had their alleys flooded. To quickly overcome the situation, Xuan Mai commune has identified general environmental sanitation as an urgent task that cannot be neglected.

During the last 2 days of the weekend, Xuan Mai commune mobilized cadres, members of unions, teachers, school staff, and with the support of local armed forces, to conduct a general cleaning of village roads, alleys, cultural houses, and especially a general cleaning of 3 schools to ensure a clean, safe environment, ready to welcome students to school from the first day of school.

The commune police mobilized all cadres and soldiers, coordinated with functional forces, organizations and local people to organize a general cleaning of headquarters and schools in the area, overcoming the consequences of flooding caused by storm No. 6.

Spraying chemicals to disinfect the environment and prevent epidemics

During the 2 days, the forces carried out general cleaning, clearing mud and garbage on the roads, alleys and in the school grounds, scrubbing classrooms, hallways, schoolyards, re-arranging tables and chairs and spraying chemicals to disinfect the environment and prevent epidemics. The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Force also brought fire trucks with many pumps and fire hoses to effectively support the cleaning of mud and garbage in public areas and schools.

After sweeping and collecting garbage, scrubbing mud, and cleaning classrooms, Nam Phuong Tien commune health workers sprayed chemicals to disinfect the environment in schools and cleaned up hamlets. In addition, the commune health station still focused on propaganda work, providing free medicine to treat common diseases after floods for people and providing Cloramin B to disinfect domestic water sources for people. This contributed to stabilizing the lives of people in the "flood center" area and returning to normal.

With a sense of urgency and responsibility, the authorities used specialized vehicles in coordination with the active support of the people, quickly restoring the landscape to a clean state, ensuring traffic safety and a learning environment for students.
