Da Nang has a new Secretary, Chairman and an opportunity to break through

Da Nang has just changed personnel in two key leadership positions - Secretary of the City Party Committee and Chairman of the City People's Committee.

Specifically, the Politburo decided to appoint Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, alternate member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City to hold the position of Secretary of the City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

The Secretariat decided to appoint Mr. Pham Duc An, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee of the Da Nang City Party Committee, to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term and to introduce him to be elected as Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

Mr. An has ceased participating in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and has ceased holding the position of Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province for the 2021-2026 term before being assigned to a new task.

Yesterday, Mr. An was elected by the City People's Council as Chairman of the Da Nang City People's Committee for the 2021-2026 term.

Previously, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh decided to accept and appoint Mr. Nguyen Van Quang - member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Da Nang City Party Committee - to hold the position of Permanent Deputy Inspector General of the Government Inspectorate.

Looking back over the years, Da Nang has been stable and safe, but lacking breakthroughs. The city that was once mentioned nationwide as a symbol of reform, a dynamic governance model, has been moving slowly in recent years.

The “Da Nang brand”, which is associated with bold ideas and new ways of doing things, is gradually fading away. Therefore, the problem for Da Nang is to quickly find a rhythm of development, not just a steady pace but a breakthrough to eliminate the risk of falling behind that is present.

The push that brought Da Nang into a breakthrough phase

In that context, public opinion has placed even more expectations on the two key leaders of the city that have just been reorganized.

Among them, the new Secretary of the City Party Committee Luong Nguyen Minh Triet (49 years old) is a son of Quang - Da land, grew up from the Youth Union movement, experienced many working positions, understands and is deeply attached to this land.

He is considered a young, capable and experienced cadre in Party building and state administration, with a scientific, decisive and grassroots mindset and working methods...

The new Chairman of Da Nang City, Pham Duc An, is a completely new face, also from the 7X generation and is knowledgeable in the fields of finance and banking. He has a bachelor's degree in Economic Law, a bachelor's degree in Banking and Finance, a master's degree in Business Administration and has many years of experience in the banking industry.

Upon taking office, he affirmed that he would focus on removing bottlenecks and obstacles, unleashing all resources, promoting economic development, and making Da Nang a new growth pole of the country.

With the youth, knowledge and enthusiasm of these two new leaders, the people of Da Nang are looking forward to a new push. A push that will make the city not only a “worth living place” but also an attractive destination for investors, a center of creativity and innovation, where policies that have the potential to spread throughout the country are initiated.

This is completely reasonable, as Da Nang was given many special mechanisms by the Central Government for development, was chosen as one of two places to build the country's International Financial Center, and was also the first locality to establish a Free Trade Zone.

To achieve that, Da Nang in general and the city's key leaders in particular must be people who dare to think big, dare to do differently and above all, dare to take responsibility to bring Da Nang into a breakthrough phase, reaffirming its position.

Only then will Da Nang be worthy of its role as the locomotive of the Central region, becoming a growth pole of Vietnam and one of the highly competitive cities of the country and the Asia-Pacific region.
