Party Secretary and Chairman of the Commune People's Council Nguyen Tien Thiet said that Ung Hoa commune was formed from the merger of 8 administrative units, a land rich in cultural and revolutionary traditions. In particular, this place used to be the center of Khu Chay - a typical guerrilla base in the resistance war against the French, the Safe Zone of the Bac Ky Party Committee, which sheltered many high-ranking officials, organized training courses, printed revolutionary documents... During the 9 years of resistance war, the army and people of Khu Chay fought 615 battles, destroyed 2,687 enemies, captured 868 guns, and received a letter of praise from Uncle Ho.
Through the wars of national liberation and defense of the Fatherland, Ung Hoa commune has more than 1,200 martyrs who heroically sacrificed; 900 wounded and sick soldiers; 230 people infected with toxic chemicals; 31 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers. The places of Tram Long, Hoa Lam, Dong Tan, Kim Duong, Dong Lo, Dai Cuong, Trung Tu... were honored to be awarded the noble title by the Party and State: Hero of the People's Armed Forces.
Today, Khu Chay is making strong strides in the renovation process, building an increasingly rich and civilized homeland, continuing the golden pages of history of the heroic revolutionary land of Khu Chay. Up to now, the average income per capita of the commune has reached nearly 80 million VND/year. The whole commune has no more poor households, the rate of near-poor households is less than 1%; the material and spiritual life of the people is constantly improving, national defense and security are maintained. Ung Hoa commune is gradually forming a livable countryside.
On this occasion, Ung Hoa commune presented 8 savings books (worth 3 million VND/book), 21 gifts (1.5 million VND/gift)... to policy families in difficult circumstances. In addition, the Hanoi Branch of the Social Policy Bank also supported 20 gifts; Van Dinh General Hospital coordinated with the Commune Military Command to organize free medical examination and treatment for more than 300 people, presented 20 gifts to policy beneficiaries...
These meaningful activities are an opportunity for cadres, party members and people of Ung Hoa commune to review the heroic traditions of their homeland, express gratitude to previous generations, and arouse the spirit of solidarity and responsibility in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland today.
