Thuong Phuc Commune: Many activities to celebrate the 78th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day

As a locality merged from 5 communes: Tan Minh, Nguyen Trai, Quat Dong, Nghiem Xuyen and Dung Tien; of which 3 communes were awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Thuong Phuc bears the mark of revolutionary tradition. Currently, the whole commune has 781 martyrs; 149 war invalids and people enjoying policies like war invalids; 143 people infected with toxic chemicals; 61 sick soldiers and 81 Vietnamese Heroic Mothers who have been awarded and posthumously awarded.

Promoting the tradition of the heroic homeland, the Party Committee, government and people of Thuong Phuc commune have carried out many meaningful gratitude activities. On this occasion, the commune presented 1,023 gifts from the President and the Hanoi People's Committee with a total cost of nearly 1.87 billion VND to people with meritorious services and relatives of martyrs; presented 110 gifts from socialized sources worth 121 million VND; received and distributed 20 gifts supported by the Hanoi Social Policy Bank with a total value of 26 million VND to households of people with meritorious services and disadvantaged families.

Recently, Thuong Phuc commune organized 3 working delegations led by leaders of the Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee to visit and present gifts to 14 typical policy families, expressing deep concern and gratitude to families with revolutionary contributions, while encouraging the families to continue to promote traditions, rise up in life, and be a shining example for the younger generation to follow.

Previously, the commune coordinated with Military Hospital 108 to organize a program of medical examination, health consultation, free medicine and gifts for 150 meritorious people, contributing to taking care of the physical and mental health of policy beneficiaries. Along with that, the commune coordinated to send 246 people to centralized nursing; supported 28 households of meritorious people to build and repair houses according to Decision No. 2627/QD-UBND dated May 27, 2025 of the Hanoi People's Committee. The work of embellishing and cleaning martyrs' cemeteries in the area was also deployed simultaneously, ensuring solemnity, cleanliness, serving gratitude activities.

One of the highlights of the series of activities was the program to meet and pay tribute to people with meritorious services and relatives of outstanding martyrs, which took place on the evening of July 25 at 5 martyrs' cemeteries in the commune. At the program, the commune presented 97 gifts to war invalids, sick soldiers, and outstanding families of policy beneficiaries. The incense offering and candle lighting ceremony was held solemnly and movingly with the participation of commune leaders, departments, unions, youth union members, armed forces, and a large number of people. The candles lit were not only a deep tribute to those who fell for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, but also a message reminding today's generation of their responsibility to preserve and promote the achievements of the revolution.

Speaking at the activities, Secretary of the Party Committee of Thuong Phuc Commune Ta Huu Tho affirmed: Although there are still many difficulties in the initial stage of implementing the two-level local government model, the work of "Repaying gratitude" is always considered by the commune as a regular political task, showing gratitude to previous generations. In the coming time, the commune will continue to promote the care of the lives of people with meritorious services, at the same time promote the strength of the great solidarity of the people, join hands to build Thuong Phuc to be more civilized, prosperous and beautiful, worthy of the noble sacrifice of our ancestors.
