Bild have revealed that Bayern Munich have not given up on the Athletic Bilbao striker. The Bavarians are said to have made a new contract offer, promising Williams €12m (£10.3m) a season if he rejects a move to Barcelona and moves to the Allianz Arena.

Bayern are hoping for a surprise, as Barcelona are having trouble registering players and paying transfer fees. Athletic Bilbao president Jon Uriarte has taken a tough stance that Barcelona must pay Williams' release clause in full in one go.

“We have not given the green light to any negotiations. If Barcelona want Nico, they must pay the full amount in the clause, and pay it in one go,” Uriarte told El Pais .
