With an impressive victory at Bung Karno Stadium, U23 Vietnam not only successfully defended the championship but also made history by winning the U23 Southeast Asian Championship 3 times in a row.

Accordingly, Coach Kim Sang-sik made history in Vietnamese football when he became the first coach to win both Southeast Asian football titles: U23 and ASEAN Cup.

Before winning the U23 Southeast Asian Championship with Vietnam U23, the Korean strategist won the 2024 ASEAN Cup with the Vietnamese team.

It is worth mentioning that coach Kim Sang-sik has done this in just 8 months since taking over as head coach.

Speaking after the historic victory, coach Kim Sang-sik expressed his pride: “I am very happy and proud that U23 Vietnam won the championship for the third consecutive time.

Thank you to the fans who came to cheer and the spectators from home. This victory is the result of a resilient fighting spirit and careful preparation over the past month."

The 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship will be a great motivation for coach Kim Sang-sik and U23 Vietnam to aim for two more important goals in the rest of 2025: the 2026 Asian U23 qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games.
