Vietjet signs major order of 100 aircraft and 50 options for new A321neo with Airbus

The order follows last month’s agreement to purchase 20 new A330neo aircraft, bringing the airline’s total widebody fleet to 40, allowing it to add flights on high-demand routes across the Asia- Pacific region, as well as launch new long-haul routes to Europe in the future.

Vietjet Board Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao said: "I have a dream and am ready to act to contribute to turning Vietnam into a regional aviation hub for passenger transport, technical services, logistics, training and research, global supply chain, aviation infrastructure... and we will certainly continue to develop a strong fleet. Today's agreement with Airbus is not just a commercial contract - but a milestone that opens a new journey for Vietjet: a journey to reach out to the world, to form new growth poles, a journey of connection, towards a sustainable aviation ecosystem and the desire to conquer."

The agreement with Airbus is a milestone that opens Vietjet's journey to global expansion.

“Our latest agreement with Vietjet comes just weeks after the airline placed another order for the A330neo widebody aircraft,” said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus Senior Vice President Commercial Aircraft Sales. “The A321neo and A330neo will be the perfect platform for Vietjet to continue expanding its reach, meeting demand more efficiently across its entire network. In addition, the airline will benefit from the high level of technical consistency that is only available with the latest generation of Airbus aircraft.”

The A321neo is the largest version of Airbus’ best-selling A320neo family, with exceptional range and performance. Combining new-generation engines and Sharklets, the A321neo delivers 50% less noise, 20% more fuel efficiency and reduced CO₂ emissions, while maximising passenger comfort in the widest cabin of its type.

Like all aircraft in production, the A321neo can operate on up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), with the goal of increasing SAF usage to 100% by 2030.

According to the ESG 2024 sustainability report, Vietjet's CO₂ emissions per passenger are among the lowest in the world .
