Vietnam has been Guangxi's largest trading partner for 25 years.

On June 12, at a press conference held in Beijing, Chairman of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Lan Tianli said that Vietnam has been Guangxi's largest trade partner over the past 25 years.

Guangxi is one of the five autonomous regions of China, with a population of about 48 million people, bordering the four provinces of Ha Giang , Cao Bang, Lang Son and Quang Ninh of Vietnam. In the economic and trade fields, Guangxi is a traditional market, playing an important role not only for the four northern border provinces but also for the overall economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and China.

According to Chairman Lam Thien Lap, due to geographical and cultural proximity, the traditional friendship between Guangxi and Vietnam is increasingly strong, and the exchange and cooperation between the two sides is extremely close. Chairman Quang Tay emphasized that the joint construction of the Community of Shared Future by Vietnam and China has strategic significance, giving Guangxi an important mission and bringing new historical opportunities for the opening and development of Guangxi.

According to data released by Guangxi, in 2023, import and export between Guangxi and Vietnam reached nearly 254 billion yuan (more than 35 billion USD), an increase of more than 29% over the same period last year. In the first 5 months of 2024, this figure was nearly 121 billion yuan, continuing to increase sharply by nearly 37%.

Guangxi's main export items to Vietnam include: textiles; stone and glass materials; electrical and mechanical products; fruit and vegetable products; plastic and rubber materials... In the opposite direction, Vietnam exports to Guangxi the following items: electrical and mechanical products; fruit and vegetable products (over 358 million USD, up 45.82%); wood and wood products (nearly 343 million USD, up over 263%); mineral products (over 163 million USD, up over 13%); processed foods (over 156 million USD, up over 18.3%)...

Chairman Lam Thien Lap said that in the coming time, Guangxi will be developed into a convenient land for domestic and international dual-circulation market business activities. With the advantage of being the only province in China connected to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) by both land and sea, and also being a frontier and gateway for cooperation with ASEAN, Guangxi will accelerate its connection with Vietnam by both rail and road, deepen cross-border industrial cooperation, as well as enhance exchanges in many fields, such as culture and tourism .

With the advantage of convenient traffic connection and large population, trade cooperation between Vietnam and Guangxi is considered to have a lot of potential that needs to be promoted and exploited for the benefit of businesses and people on both sides.
