Specifically, at Ben Thuy Pumping Station, Cau Den Vinh Tan Station (now Truong Vinh Ward) and Cua Nam Pumping Station (Thanh Vinh Ward), before storm No. 5 entered, they were still operating smoothly. From the evening of August 25, when storm No. 5 made landfall, there was a problem with the medium voltage line causing widespread power outages, including the power lines supplying the pumping stations. However, thanks to the pre-prepared plan, the units made efforts to overcome it by connecting from the backup power system, so the station was able to operate again on the night of August 25.
According to Vinh Urban Infrastructure Management and Development Joint Stock Company, of the three large-capacity pumping stations, Ben Thuy and Cau Den pumping stations (Truong Vinh ward) have been operating at full capacity. As for Cua Nam pumping station, located in Thanh Vinh ward, due to a power outage, the company has been using generators and the capacity has only reached half of the design capacity.

According to the design, the drainage pumps for the entire Vinh city were previously located at 3 pumping stations at Ben Thuy, Cau Den and Cua Nam, each station had an average capacity of 20,000m3 /h.
In addition to fixed pumping stations for low-lying areas, to increase the capacity to drain water for key locations, Truong Vinh ward currently maintains 2 field pumps with a capacity of nearly 600m3 /h in Vinh market area; Vinh Phu ward has a plan to place field pumps on Le Nin street to drain water for Xo Viet Nghe Tinh Avenue and the area of the Provincial General Hospital of Friendship.

Mr. Vo Tuan Anh - Deputy Director of Vinh Urban Infrastructure Management and Development Joint Stock Company said: The amount of rain measured on August 24 and 25, the rain in the old Vinh city was about 200mm, so the drainage is being actively pumped. However, due to a big storm and a medium voltage line incident, there was a power outage on the evening of August 25. Therefore, at this time, some residential areas in Truong Vinh ward, belonging to the old Ben Thuy ward, were partially flooded. Immediately after the rain stopped, the ward People's Committee and the company made efforts to fix the problem to promptly operate the pumping stations, so the situation was stable.

Currently, to proactively respond to the rain circulation after storm No. 5, the Command Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Rescue of Truong Vinh Ward still maintains the installation of 2 pumps in the main hall area of Vinh Market; at the same time, at other key points, the ward has authorized Vinh Urban Infrastructure Management and Development Joint Stock Company to sign a contract in principle with irrigation companies so that when unexpected situations arise, a field pumping station will be installed and operated to forcibly pump out water./.
