Mr. Miao Hua, born in 1955, is currently a member of the Central Military Commission, the highest leadership body of the Chinese military. The Central Military Commission of China consists of 6 members, of which Mr. Xi Jinping is the chairman.

Public records show that Mr. Miao graduated from China's National University of Defense Technology, majoring in management engineering.

Mr. Miao joined the army when he was 14 years old and spent many years working in a unit based in the coastal province of Fujian, described by state media as "the frontline force facing Taiwan."

From 2010 to 2014, Mr. Miao worked in the Western Lanzhou Military Region, later renamed the Western Theater Command, overseeing troops in areas including Tibet and Xinjiang.

In December 2014, Mr. Miao was transferred to the position of political commissar of the Chinese Navy. Eight months later, he was promoted and became the youngest active admiral in China at that time.

He was appointed director of the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission of China in 2017.

As Political Commissar of the Navy, Mr. Miao Hua has repeatedly spoken out about issues such as military reform or the East Sea, attracting public attention.

Three days after being promoted to admiral, Mr. Mieu wrote an article in the People's Daily about the work of building a team of military cadres, emphasizing: "It is necessary to be absolutely loyal to the Party; focus on building combat plans; be strict and disciplined; and be correct in recruitment."

He once wrote: "Strengthen investigation and punishment of violations of discipline and law, focus on resolving the lack of responsibility in disciplinary violations, strictly handle those who exceed the limit, without exception."

Miao Hua was last seen in public on October 7, when he attended a ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, a state-run paramilitary organization in the western autonomous region.
