U23 Vietnam received big reward after victory over U23 Philippines

(Dan Tri) - Despite conceding the first goal, U23 Vietnam still fought hard to come back to defeat U23 Philippines 2-1 and win the right to play in the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.

As expected by fans, coach Kim Sang Sik and his team demonstrated the mettle of the defending champions when they defeated U23 Philippines with a score of 2-1 in the semi-final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament held at Bung Karno Stadium (Indonesia) on the evening of July 25.

Immediately after the match, on behalf of the Executive Committee (EC) and Standing Committee of the EC, President of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Tran Quoc Tuan called to encourage and congratulate the Vietnam U23 team on winning the right to enter the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship.

Notably, VFF has decided to reward 500 million VND for the achievement of qualifying for the final match of the tournament for the third time. Previously, right after passing the group stage as the first team of Group B, achieving 6 absolute points after 2 wins, the U23 team was also rewarded 500 million VND by VFF.

On behalf of the Executive Committee and Standing Committee, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan reminded the whole team to stay healthy and focus on preparing well for the final match with U23 Indonesia taking place at 8:00 p.m. on July 29.

After winning the semi-final, U23 Vietnam has won all 3 matches of this year's tournament. We scored a total of 7 goals and conceded 2 goals, before playing the final match.

Notably, speaking after the match with U23 Philippines, coach Kim Sang Sik said: “U23 Vietnam played well. The players tried very hard, I want to thank them. I am happy that U23 Vietnam won the right to enter the final.”

The Korean strategist also added: "The very positive thing is that the Vietnamese U23 players are confident. If we are well prepared, we can defeat all opponents in the final match to win the U23 Southeast Asian championship."
