The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) website has officially confirmed that it will send the Thai national team to participate in the 2024 LPBank Cup International Friendly Tournament, with the participation of 3 teams: host Vietnam, Russia and Thailand taking place during FIFA Day in early September. Although coach Masatada Ishii has not yet announced the list of Thai players called up for this tournament, according to the Thai press, this is a good opportunity for the "War Elephants" to compete with quality opponents like the Russian team, so the Japanese strategist will bring the strongest squad to Vietnam. Many Thai players also expressed their desire to face quality opponents like the Russian team or host Vietnam. 29-year-old striker Border Phala, who plays for Port FC and won the AFF Cup 2020 and 2022 with the Thai team, is very excited for the tour in Vietnam. In an interview with Thairath (Thailand), Border Phala said: "I hope to join the Thai team to compete in Vietnam this time. If I am called, I will try my best. Thailand is ranked 101st in the world , under the leadership of coach Masatada Ishii, the Thai team has quite good form when losing 3 matches in the last 9 matches. All 3 of Thailand's losses were against very strong opponents such as: Japan (0-5), Uzbekistan (1-2), South Korea (0-3).

The LPBank Cup 2024 international friendly tournament will feature three teams from Vietnam, Russia and Thailand, organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF). The teams will compete in a round robin to determine points and rankings. The tournament schedule: Vietnam - Russia (September 5); Russia - Thailand (September 7) and Vietnam - Thailand (September 10). All matches will take place at 8:00 p.m. at My Dinh National Stadium, Hanoi . To prepare for the tournament, the Vietnamese team is expected to gather on August 30 under the guidance of coach Kim Sang Sik. The tournament with quality opponents is a great opportunity for the Vietnamese team to prepare for the ASEAN Cup 2024 taking place in December.
