The information was shared in the online television consultation program "Strategy for setting aspirations to increase the chance of admission" produced by Thanh Nien Newspaper on July 23. The program is online at: thanhnien.vn , Facebook fanpage, YouTube channel, TikTok Thanh Nien Newspaper.
CANDIDATES DON'T WORRY ABOUT PERCENTAGES
In the consulting program, Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, Permanent Deputy Director of Duy Tan University, shared: "This year, in order to avoid unfairness among candidates, experts from the Ministry of Education and Training have proposed a method of calculating percentiles. However, this technical issue is the job of universities, so candidates should not pay too much attention to it," said Dr. Hai.
According to Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, candidates only need to follow the admission threshold scores announced by universities for each major to register. In particular, pay special attention to majors with specific input quality assurance thresholds such as: health, pedagogy, law, etc. For example, Duy Tan University has announced the admission threshold scores for each major according to each method, candidates who achieve this score are eligible to register their admission wishes.
Sharing the same opinion, Master Nguyen Do Tung, Executive Director of Van Hien University, also said that candidates do not need to worry too much about this information. Based on the percentile table and the results of comparing scores announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, universities have announced the threshold to ensure input quality according to regulations. For example, Van Hien University stipulates the minimum score for high school graduation exams for all majors at 15 (17 points for nursing majors, and a minimum score for literature or math is required for law majors). Thus, candidates who want to apply to the school only need to pay attention to this minimum score of the school.

Master Truong Thi Ngoc Bich, Director of the Information and Communication Center of the University of Economics and Finance, Ho Chi Minh City, also said that candidates should not pay much attention to the percentile table but only need to pay attention to the admission floor scores that universities and colleges are announcing.
Master Truong Quang Tri, Deputy Head of Student Affairs Department of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, also commented: "To put it simply, the percentile parameters or the comparison table of high school graduation exam scores with academic transcript scores are the database that helps universities have a more general view to have a way to convert the admission threshold score to ensure fairness among candidates when considering admission. Candidates now only need to follow the information on the admission threshold score, refer to the standard scores of that school in recent years to have a suitable NV choice".
DO NOT SUBJECTIVELY UNDERSTAND THAT LOW FLOOR MEANS LOW STANDARD POINT
TS's current concern is the level of competition and the trend of standard scores in the context of a sharp decrease in the floor scores of many schools.
Answering this concern, Dr. Vo Thanh Hai said that the level of competition among candidates in this year's admission is predicted to be very high. "Therefore, candidates should not subjectively register for too few NV. For "hot" majors such as artificial intelligence, health sciences , etc., the benchmark may remain unchanged. For majors that were below 27 last year, the benchmark this year may decrease, but it is still possible that some majors' benchmarks will increase dramatically," Dr. Hai predicted.
From another perspective, Master Nguyen Do Tung commented: "According to common thinking, if the floor score decreases, the standard score will decrease. However, this may not happen to all schools and majors. PhDs should not subjectively assume that if the floor score of many schools decreases, the standard score will decrease."
Similarly, Master Truong Thi Ngoc Bich analyzed: "The floor score is the minimum score that candidates need to achieve to register for admission to a major at a university. However, candidates will not know how many people with this floor score are registering for the same major at a university". Master Bich added: "Good candidates still choose the majors they really like in the high standard score segment. There are universities that announced this year's standard score is expected to increase or decrease by 1 point, which shows that the change in standard score is not too much at these schools". From there, this expert believes that the standard score may decrease but will not decrease evenly. Candidates need to be wise in registering for NV. In fact, if last year candidates registered for an average of 5 - 7 NV, this year many candidates registered for 10 NV or more.
Master Truong Quang Tri also said that the majors that attract many candidates with high exam scores, the level of competition among candidates in this group of majors is still very fierce. Therefore, candidates need to have a strategy in choosing a career. "The most suitable career is based on the ability, interests, and financial capacity of the individual and his family," Master Tri advised.

Providing more information about the current enrollment situation, Dr. Le Xuan Truong, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City Open University, said that the school's floor score has decreased by 1-3 points compared to last year. Based on this floor score, candidates will register for admission, the school will determine the admission score and convert the scores of different appropriate methods. Master Vo Ngoc Nhon, Deputy Director of the Admissions Consulting Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, noted: "This year, all methods, including academic transcript scores, will be registered on the portal of the Ministry of Education and Training. Candidates only need to register for the major and school, without having to choose any admission method."
Master Chung Quoc Phong, Head of Admissions Department of Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology, also said that the school's minimum score is 15 for the high school graduation exam results method, 18 points for the transcript review method and 500 points for the capacity assessment of Ho Chi Minh City National University. According to Master Phong, the selection strategy for candidates can be divided into 2-3 groups of candidates, each group has 2-3 candidates including safe candidates who are sure to pass, candidates who want to get in...
Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Phung, Deputy Director of the Admissions and Business Relations Center of the University of Finance and Marketing, also said that the school has announced the minimum scores according to different methods. "Candidates need to pay close attention and not forget other admission methods. On the registration system, although candidates do not need to fill in the admission method, the system already has the candidate's exam data using high school graduation exam scores, high school study scores, scores of separate exams that the candidate has participated in... The system will automatically consider admission for candidates using all the results achieved when the candidate registers for a specific major and school," Ms. Phung noted.
TS should boldly set the most favorite task as Task 1, even if it is a higher, more difficult task than what can be achieved.
Dr. Le Xuan Truong , Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City Open University
TS should not register to be admitted to a school by all means, but should focus on choosing a major that they really love, a school and a training program that suits their own and their family's choices.
Master Nguyen Thi Kim Phung , Deputy Director of Admissions and Corporate Relations Center, University of Finance - Marketing
One of the factors that TS should pay attention to when choosing NV is to learn about the training program and policies of the schools to have the best learning path. With the field of study that you are passionate about, 4 years of university will be the happiest time for students.
Master Chung Quoc Phong , Head of Admissions Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Foreign Languages and Information Technology
At this stage, candidates need to arrange NV 1 including the most desired major/school, followed by feasible majors and finally majors that they are sure to be accepted into.
