Accordingly, the total number of candidates registering for admission this year is up to 852,000, with 7.6 million wishes for more than 4,000 majors and training programs of more than 400 universities and colleges nationwide. The admission regulations allow candidates to register for multiple wishes and do not need to choose a method or combination of admissions; the admission software system will automatically select the method or combination of admissions that is most beneficial for candidates. Therefore, the total number of actual wishes that must be considered for admission on the system is up to over 50 million (each major wish considered according to each method or combination of admissions is considered as a wish on the system), an increase of about 2 times compared to 2024.
The consistent policy of the Ministry and schools is to transfer difficult and complicated tasks to themselves and apply technology to solve them, bringing maximum convenience and fairness to candidates. From the registration process, paying fees to confirming admission, candidates do it entirely online.
To meet the higher demands of 2025, the general enrollment support software system (including the virtual selection and filtering system) has been upgraded. Although there was an initial overload, it was promptly resolved and completed processing, providing data to schools for timely announcement on August 22.
The Ministry of Education and Training also increased the time and number of virtual filtering times for schools to carefully review data and minimize errors. After announcing the benchmark scores, schools will need 2-3 days to review, correct errors, complete the list of admitted candidates, notify candidates, and update the Ministry's system to serve candidates to confirm their admission.
Thus, from August 22-24, candidates who are admitted to a school will be notified of their admission and can look up their admission on the information portal provided by the school. For the group of schools in the North that conduct joint admissions, the announcement of the admission list will be undertaken by Hanoi University of Science and Technology as the host unit under the authorization of the schools in the group. Candidates who do not receive admission notices will either be due to the school not having completed the data update, not having announced the admission list, or having errors.
From 8:00 a.m. on August 25, after most schools had uploaded their admission list data, the Ministry reopened the general admission support system for candidates to confirm their admission. The system operated completely stably, and by 12:00 p.m. on August 26, more than 560,000 candidates had successfully confirmed their admission (exceeding the total number of candidates admitted in the first round of 2024).
The Ministry of Education and Training said: With such a large amount of data, along with the diverse admission methods and conditions of universities and colleges, errors are inevitable, even at a very small rate. As in previous years, these errors are mainly due to errors in the admission input data (admission methods, conditions, admission criteria, evidence of candidates' priorities, foreign language certificates, etc.), some errors are due to manual operations of some schools during the admission process.
However, due to careful preparation and lessons learned from previous years, the number of actual errors this year has decreased significantly compared to 2024. The Ministry and universities and colleges have assigned staff to work on hotlines to receive feedback and questions from candidates and parents through many channels; coordinate to handle and resolve immediately for the legitimate interests of candidates. Since the evening of August 23, every day, the Ministry's admissions department has received and forwarded about 20 to 30 feedback from candidates through all channels to schools for processing.
According to the admission regulations, the resolution of errors is the responsibility of the schools. If necessary, the Ministry will support, guide and direct other universities to coordinate in handling the issue. After listening to feedback on major errors of some higher education institutions, the Ministry of Education and Training has promptly directed and guided them. To date, most of the errors have been resolved in accordance with regulations.
Based on the situation of enrollment, admission, error handling of schools and data across the system, the Ministry of Education and Training affirms: University and college enrollment in 2025 up to now is on schedule, as required, ensuring the rights of candidates; the general enrollment system is operating stably. Cases that have not been able to access information in the past few days are because schools have not completed reviewing and completing data. Cases with errors are resolved promptly, in accordance with regulations. All candidates who are eligible for admission will certainly be notified of their admission in time to enroll on time.
The Ministry of Education and Training will continue to listen, research, and absorb feedback to have directions to adjust admission regulations, admission plans, and direct universities and colleges to perform better in the coming years.
