Present at the People's Committee of Thuc Luyen commune on a Thursday morning, we saw many women members, after working and cleaning the flower paths planted and cared for by women, go to the committee hall to borrow and read books related to animal husbandry and farming techniques and books related to law.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy - Women's Union member of Thuc Luyen commune shared: Through the propaganda of the Union's officials, I learned that the commune has just been supported with a community bookshelf, which includes books related to marriage and family, legal knowledge, and economic development, so during my free time, some members and I have come to borrow and read. I find the community bookshelf very useful. Instead of using the phone, coming here, we have the opportunity to meet, share, confide and turn the pages of books to read, something we have not done for a long time.
People of Thuc Luyen commune borrow and read books under the guidance of the staff in charge.
According to comrade Nguyen Thi Kim Han, a cultural and social officer (in charge of the community bookcase) of Thuc Luyen commune: The commune's community bookcase currently has 285 books, suitable for many ages from children to the elderly. The bookcase is open for people to borrow and read every Thursday during office hours, on the remaining days people who want to borrow and read will register with the officer in charge. Immediately after being handed over the community bookcase, we were also instructed by the Provincial Library on library expertise and skills in organizing services for readers, promoting and introducing books and newspapers, reporting on results of services for readers... so that the bookcase operates in the most scientific and effective way.
Since the beginning of the year, the District Center for Culture, Sports , Tourism and Communications has coordinated with the Provincial Library to hand over 7 community bookcases to 7 communes: Kha Cuu, Tan Minh, Tan Lap, Thang Son, Thuc Luyen, Thach Khoan, Giap Lai, including bookcases and nearly 300 books, worth over 20 million VND/bookcase. In addition, in response to the Dat To Book Festival program, the Provincial Library has donated 600 books to develop and renew 3 existing community bookcases in 3 communes: Huong Can, Tat Thang and Cu Thang.
The District Center for Culture, Sports, Tourism and Communication coordinated with the Provincial Library to hand over the community bookcase to Thang Son commune.
The construction of community bookcases aims to implement the Party and State's policies on enhancing access to information and knowledge for ethnic minorities and mountainous areas, building a quality and effective reading culture environment; forming habits, development needs, skills and reading movements in the community. At the same time, narrowing the cultural, economic and social gap between mountainous and plain areas, contributing to building and improving the quality of cultural and spiritual life and labor production of the people.
Comrade Le Thi Nhu Hoa - Deputy Director of the District Center for Culture, Sports, Tourism and Communications said: Thanh Son district currently has 18/23 community bookcases in operation. The bookcases all have content on propaganda and dissemination of legal education, marriage and family, prevention of early marriage and incestuous marriage; building a grassroots cultural life. Along with that are a number of books introducing the unique cultural beauty of families, villages, and communes in ethnic minority and mountainous communities; introducing methods and skills to preserve and promote the fine traditional culture of ethnic minority people, sustainable tourism development models in ethnic minority tourist areas and destinations, and methods and skills in cultivation and animal husbandry.
The bookcase, when put into operation, will be effective in providing and exploiting information for the people, helping them have more sources of documents for studying, working, entertaining, cultivating scientific and technical knowledge, and applying them to production.
At the community bookshelf, books are scientifically arranged so that people can easily find, borrow, and read.
It can be seen that each bookcase built, each book delivered to the people carries its own mission to help provide a diverse and rich source of information resources, so that each person can expand their knowledge, find useful information for themselves in their studies as well as in their lives, work and production. Not only that, the community bookcase also creates a common cultural space, where people can exchange, learn, share experiences, strengthen solidarity, improve people's knowledge, build a sustainable learning community and society.
