On July 22, the Ministry of Education and Training announced the score conversion table between traditional combinations. This is important data for candidates to refer to, however, according to experts, understanding the nature of score conversion and correct operations on the registration system are the decisive factors for the chance of admission.
Professor Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Department of Higher Education , Ministry of Education and Training, affirmed that the conversion table announced by the Ministry is for reference only, based on the percentile principle. Universities still have the right to determine the conversion threshold between groups or methods such as high school graduation scores, IELTS, SAT... based on actual enrollment data from previous years.
“The Ministry of Education and Training only recommends general rules, not absolute numbers. Any school that converts differently from the general principles must be responsible for explaining,” said Professor Thao.
This means that admission scores from the same exam can be converted differently between schools, even between majors within the same school. Candidates need to carefully check information from universities to have a basis for adjusting their wishes accurately.

Candidates be careful with converted scores, don't forget the "save" button
Just 3 steps, but don't be subjective
Associate Professor Dr. Vu Duy Hai, Head of Admissions and Career Guidance Department, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said that the registration system has been open since July 16 and will close at 5:00 p.m. on July 28. Candidates only need to perform 3 steps: enter the order of their wishes, choose a school and a major, then click the “Save” button to complete.
This system will handle the entire admission process, ensuring that each candidate is only admitted to the highest choice according to regulations.
From his experience with 12th grade students, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan (Hanoi) believes that the Ministry of Education and Training’s implementation of the common system is reasonable and needs to continue to expand. However, many schools still require candidates to submit additional documents on their websites. This causes information confusion and can cause students to miss the deadline.
According to him, if the entire admission process can be centralized at one place, candidates will have more time and energy to focus on choosing a major and school instead of being stressed about technical procedures.
It can be said that before finalizing the wishes, the system has provided maximum support, but the final choice still depends on the initiative and alertness of the candidate. A correct and accurate decision can open the most suitable door for the future.
Important notes before finalizing your wishes
- Read carefully the score conversion method of each school - Do not use the transcript of the Ministry of Education and Training as the "absolute standard".
- Rank your wishes in order of preference - Your first choice is not the major with the highest score, but the major you want to study the most.
- Carefully check the industry code and school code - Avoid unfortunate mistakes.
-Press the "Save" button on the system - If you do not press it, all entered information will not be recorded.
- Remember deadline: 5pm July 28 - No extension after this time.
