Live broadcast of the National Day parade on September 2nd

On the morning of September 2, at Ba Dinh Square (Hanoi), a parade took place to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The celebration program began at 6:30 a.m. with the torch procession and lighting of the pyre. The traditional flame - a symbol of the indomitable will, immortal strength, and eternal aspiration of the Vietnamese people, forged from thousands of years of history of building and defending the country - was carried from the Ho Chi Minh Museum to Ba Dinh Square. The flame was handed over to Lieutenant General, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Nguyen Duc Soat, former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, who had an outstanding achievement of shooting down 6 enemy aircraft, becoming one of the heroic pilots of the Vietnam People's Army, to light the pyre in the middle of Ba Dinh Square.

The flag-raising ceremony was solemnly held at Ba Dinh Square. At the same time, in front of My Dinh Stadium, 15 105mm ceremonial guns of the Artillery - Missile Command fired 21 volleys as the flag-raising ceremony with the National Anthem was performed.

The parade was conducted by Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nghia, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army.

Participating in the parade and marching program were more than 16,000 people, including: 4 honor guard groups; 43 groups representing the people's armed forces; foreign military groups including China, Russia, Laos, Cambodia; military vehicles, artillery and special police vehicles; 12 mass parade groups and 1 cultural - sports group. The forces standing on Ba Dinh Square included a guard of honor and 29 standing groups, including 18 armed forces groups and 11 mass groups.

In the sky above Ba Dinh Square, the Vietnam Air Force units performed a welcome flyover with 31 aircraft including helicopters, Su30-MK2, Yak-130 and L-39NG multi-role fighters, and CASA tactical transport aircraft. Of these, 10 helicopters carried the Party and national flags flying over Ba Dinh Square; while the Su30-MK2 and Yak-130 aircraft performed a display of dropping heat traps and performing acrobatics in the sky above Hanoi.

The forces participating in the sea parade (taking place at Cam Ranh Khanh Hoa military port) were broadcast live to Ba Dinh Square via a screen with narration, including: Navy, Coast Guard, Border Guard and Military Region 5, with many types of weapons and equipment: command ships; maritime patrol aircraft, anti-submarine helicopters; submarine squadrons, missile frigates, anti-submarine frigates, fast attack missile boats, naval gunboats; Coast Guard ship squadrons; Border Guard and Standing Militia Squadron, along with many modern means and equipment.

After passing through the stage at Ba Dinh Square, the parade groups split into many directions, passing through the central streets of Hanoi to the gathering place and interacting with the people.

Previously, to ensure safety and convenience for the rehearsal, Hanoi City Police organized traffic flow and directions for vehicles throughout Hanoi from 10:00 p.m. on September 1 to 1:00 p.m. on September 2.
