In 2003, the Microwave Broadcasting Department of Lang Son Radio and Television Station was established to transmit signals in satellite television systems (the predecessor of the master control department) under the Program Production Technical Department. After 20 years of operation, in 2023, the station's master control department was invested in a modern, synchronous manner that met national standards.
The control department of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio-Television Station is currently designed separately, with a modern, complex and strictly protected technical equipment system.
Mr. Tran Vu Anh, Head of Technical - Technology Department, Lang Son Radio and Television Station, said: The control department has the function of managing and exploiting the technical infrastructure system serving the collection, transmission of data, monitoring and supervision of television programs on channels and digital platforms. The control department also performs the task of checking the integrity of data before broadcasting; exploiting the backup broadcasting system, handling broadcasting incidents according to the process, ensuring safety and continuity.
In addition, the general control department also participates in managing equipment systems operated by other departments, and coordinates the operation of systems serving production and broadcasting.
Participating in the operation of the general control department of Lang Son Radio and Television Newspaper and Station currently has 4 officers operating the entire transceiver system, switching channels and transmitting data to other digital infrastructure platforms of the agency.
Mr. Tran Dinh Nam, a technician and officer who has worked in the general control technical department for 17 years, said: The general control duty seems simple but is extremely stressful and toxic. Accordingly, in addition to the task of exploiting and distributing signals, receiving and processing signal distribution to meet production and broadcasting requirements, the officer on duty must also monitor signals, images, and sounds so that the broadcasting system operates according to the correct procedures and with the correct performance.
Due to the nature of the job, each officer in charge of the shift must focus highly on the equipment system to monitor the technical infrastructure system to promptly detect and handle incidents.
Mr. Ngo Hong Quan, an officer of the Technical-Technology Department, who has worked for 2 years in the general control department, shared: Officers working in the general control department, in addition to monitoring audio and visual signals, also record incident logs, summarize and report on broadcasts daily and on request; coordinate with functional departments to periodically inspect equipment, make minor repairs to machinery and equipment managed by other departments, and participate in other tasks as required by the leadership.
According to the working regulations of the general control department, in 1 day, the technical team is divided into 3 shifts. The first shift starts from 5:30 am to 12:00 pm; the second shift from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm and the third shift from 6:00 pm to 12:00 am. The work of each shift is the same, but for the night shift, the work is much more stressful because there are many important broadcast programs in the "golden hour" frame. The work of the transmission to ensure the waves are smooth and stable is very stressful, but with love and responsibility for the job, the people working in the general control department still strive to complete their tasks well.
According to the data of the Technical-Technology Department, the control department of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio-Television Station is currently receiving data, transmitting, and distributing waves for television platforms including: digital platform of channel 27 digital terrestrial television; LSTV go platform; website Langsontv.vn; transmitting HD signals to satellites; transmitting signals to FPT TV; Viettel TV; My TV; forwarding VTV waves; managing all storage servers and data of the entire agency; transmitting radio broadcast signals to satellites and Mau Son broadcasting station. At the same time, the control department also coordinates with the agency's specialized departments to produce and control files... for broadcasting.
Journalist Nguyen Dong Bac, Editor-in-Chief of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio-Television Station, said: The control department of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio-Television Station has been invested in upgrading to meet national standards since 2023, and the control department is the heart of the radio and television agency; the control department is also likened to a steel shield protecting information waves according to strict and safe procedures. With the investment in modern and synchronous equipment systems at the control department, risks in the production and transmission of radio and television have been minimized. Thereby, contributing to improving the propaganda quality of Lang Son Newspaper and Radio-Television Station in carrying out local political tasks.
The general control department plays a key role in maintaining the stability of broadcasting and transmission of radio and television agencies. Therefore, the general control department is increasingly invested in synchronous technology, human resources, and the operating staff requires precision, meticulousness, and a high sense of responsibility to help radio and television waves fly high and far to serve audiences and listeners.
