Ho Chi Minh City builds exemplary, representative, strong armed forces from the roots

The 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee, term 2025 - 2030 is an important milestone in the process of building a regular, modern, and comprehensively strong city armed force, taking the people as the root, improving leadership capacity, fighting strength, and being ready to protect the Fatherland early and from afar.

On August 6, the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee held its 1st Congress for the 2025-2030 term. This is a broad political activity within the entire Party Committee, an important milestone affirming the political mettle and fine traditions of the Party Committee and the city's armed forces over nearly 80 years of building, fighting, winning and maturing under the glorious flag of the Party. Orientation for the City Military Party Committee to continue to innovate, improve leadership capacity, combat strength, build a comprehensive, strong and "exemplary" city armed forces.

Attending the congress were former President Truong Tan Sang; Politburo member, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen; Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc; Head of the Ho Chi Minh City National Assembly Delegation Nguyen Van Loi; Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council Vo Van Minh.

The congress convened 268 official delegates representing 16 grassroots party organizations representing nearly 3,000 party members.

Before the official session of the Congress, responding to the call of the Party Central Committee, the Government and the Vietnam Fatherland Front, delegates participated in donating to support people affected by storm No. 3 in the Central region as initiated by the Party Committee and the Ho Chi Minh City Command. This is not only a simple act of "sharing food and clothes" but also the tradition of "the whole leaves cover the torn leaves, the less torn leaves cover the more torn leaves".

At the official session, delegates listened to the political report of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term and discussed it.

In the orientation section, the Congress identified a number of specific and effective leadership contents, targets and solutions.

In particular, three breakthroughs are identified: grasping, forecasting, and correctly assessing the situation, improving the quality of advising Party committees, authorities, and Military Regions to lead and direct local military, defense, and border tasks; striving to complete defense projects according to plan. Promoting military administrative reform and digital transformation. Improving the quality of training and exercises, building a regular routine, enforcing discipline, and ensuring safety. Promoting the cultural values of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the new period. Improving the comprehensive leadership capacity, fighting strength of Party committees, Party cells, and the quality of cadres and Party members; effectively overcoming weaknesses.

The Congress announced the decision of the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee on appointing 23 individuals to join the Executive Committee and 7 individuals to join the Standing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee.

At the same time, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, was appointed to hold the position of Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee; Colonel Nguyen Thanh Trung, Political Commissar of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, to hold the position of Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee, and Major General Vu Van Dien, Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Command, to hold the position of Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee.

Directing the congress, Major General Tran Vinh Ngoc requested that the Ho Chi Minh City Military Party Committee not be subjective, negligent, or lose vigilance in the new situation, continue to carry out defense diplomacy well, and strengthen friendly relations between the armies of friendly countries to protect the Fatherland early and from afar.

"The Ho Chi Minh City Command is constantly improving the overall quality of the city's armed forces' combat strength, perfecting their organization and staffing in accordance with regulations, and prioritizing forces on combat-ready missions. Regardless of the circumstances, the city's armed forces must always be steadfast, steadfast, and absolutely loyal to the Party, the Fatherland, and the people; ready to fight, sacrifice, and firmly protect independence and sovereignty, and maintain a peaceful and stable environment for the city and the whole country to develop," Major General Tran Vinh Ngoc emphasized.

In the coming time, Mr. Nguyen Van Nen suggested that the Ho Chi Minh City Command continue to promote the tradition of solidarity, democracy, innovation, and determination to win. Immediately after the Congress, it is necessary to focus on strong and extensive implementation, bringing the Resolution of the Party, higher levels and the Resolution of the Congress into life.

"The Ho Chi Minh City Command must strongly implement breakthrough solutions to build a regular, modern city armed force, improve overall quality, and be ready for combat, especially focusing on building a politically strong armed force.
