Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda and his wife conclude official visit to Vietnam

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the evening of June 12, President of the Republic of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda and his wife Diana Nausediene and a high-ranking delegation of the Republic of Lithuania left Hanoi, concluding their official visit to Vietnam from June 11-12, at the invitation of President Luong Cuong.

Seeing off the delegation at Noi Bai International Airport were Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ngo Le Van and Vietnamese Ambassador to Poland and Lithuania Ha Hoang Hai.

During his visit to Vietnam, President Gitanas Nauseda and his wife laid wreaths and visited President Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum; and laid wreaths at the Monument to Heroes and Martyrs on Bac Son Street (Ba Dinh, Hanoi ).

General Secretary To Lam received President Gitanas Nauseda. President Luong Cuong hosted the official welcoming ceremony, held talks, and hosted a banquet for President Gitanas Nauseda; the two leaders witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation documents between the two countries in the fields of energy, science and technology, agriculture, and finance. National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met with the President of Lithuania.

At the receptions, talks and meetings, Vietnamese leaders welcomed the historic visit of President Gitanas Nauseda; emphasizing that this was the first historic head-of-state visit since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1992; affirming that this was an important milestone, contributing to promoting the Vietnam - Lithuania bilateral relationship to develop more strongly, substantially and effectively in the coming time.

Reviewing the positive developments in Vietnam-Lithuania relations in recent times, the Vietnamese leaders thanked the Government and people of Lithuania for their valuable support and assistance to Vietnam during the difficult years in the past; affirming that Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to develop relations with traditional friends, including Lithuania, an important partner of Vietnam in the region.

President Gitanas Nauseda expressed his pleasure in visiting Vietnam for the first time and sincerely thanked the warm, respectful and thoughtful welcome of the Vietnamese leaders and people for the delegation. The President expressed his impression and admiration for the great achievements that Vietnam has made in the renovation process, becoming a country with the leading growth rate in Southeast Asia and the world. The President affirmed that Vietnam is Lithuania's leading important partner in Southeast Asia and expressed his desire to develop the traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, especially in areas where both sides have many strengths and potentials.

In an atmosphere of sincerity, trust and openness, the leaders of the two countries informed each other about the situation in each country; discussed extensively major orientations and specific measures to strengthen cooperation and elevate relations in the coming time.

One of the highlights of the visit was the Lithuania-Vietnam Business Forum held in Hanoi. President Gitanas Nauseda delivered an opening speech with many meaningful messages.
