On behalf of the Party and State leaders, General Secretary To Lam awarded the First Class Labor Medal to the station.
Speaking at the ceremony, the General Secretary expressed his joy with delegates and international friends attending the ceremony to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the first broadcast of VTV's television program, receive the First Class Labor Medal and the launch and official broadcast of the national foreign television channel - Vietnam Today.
"This is an important milestone on the glorious journey, with many proud marks of generations of leaders, cadres, civil servants and workers of Vietnam Television," said General Secretary To Lam.

6 missions for VTV
According to the General Secretary, during the 55 years since the first experimental broadcast on September 7, 1970, from rudimentary technical conditions, VTV has developed into a national station, a key, core, multimedia media agency propagating the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws.
Contribute to education, foster spiritual life, improve people's knowledge; speak up for the people in the cause of building, protecting and developing the country.
The General Secretary dedicated 10 words to VTV: "Everyone, anytime, anywhere, sharp and attractive".
Specifically, "everyone means everyone in the country and abroad, regardless of who, can enjoy it. Anytime means any time, it can be done well. Everywhere means not only in Vietnam but also in the world. We are already sharp and attractive, so we must continue to be sharper and more attractive."

The General Secretary emphasized that VTV must increasingly affirm its mettle and be a pillar in creating trust and consensus in society.
He proposed that the station focus on six key tasks:
1. Firmly uphold the Party's revolutionary goals, be absolutely loyal to the Fatherland and the People; fulfill well the role of the national key media agency, multimedia, and pioneer on the ideological and cultural front.
2. Building a team of cadres, reporters, editors, and technicians with strong political will, good expertise, technological proficiency, clear professional ethics, and a strong desire to contribute.
3. Improve the quality of content, enrich the Vietnamese cultural identity; honestly reflect life, encourage new factors, good people, good deeds, spread good values, promote a society that upholds human values, educates knowledge and ethics; fight against erroneous and hostile viewpoints; contribute to leading and improving tastes, aesthetics, and enjoyment of cultural and artistic values, develop the cultural industry, build a system of cultural values, and Vietnamese people in the new era.
4. Promote comprehensive digital transformation, develop a multi-platform media ecosystem; aim to become a modern national digital media complex, operating according to an integrated, comprehensive digital model, leading in the production and distribution of high-quality, multi-platform, multi-lingual content, applying advanced technology to serve the public at home and abroad, contributing to firmly protecting national information sovereignty, and raising Vietnam's position on the international media map.
5. Continue to maintain and foster the spirit of solidarity and unity throughout the station; promote will, responsibility, aspiration to contribute, and act decisively and effectively to create combined strength.
6. Focus on building the national foreign television channel - Vietnam Today to become a modern, professional, attractive foreign television channel with its own identity, bearing the mark of Vietnamese culture.
