Before becoming a rapper and actor, he studied tourism and worked as a tour guide for a while. For nearly 10 years in the arts, he was first a comedian, then a folk and reformed opera singer, and now he is also a rapper.
"I was exposed to cải lương since I was young and grew up knowing how to sing even though I didn't study it formally. I only started learning rap a little over a year ago. It was from the Rap Viet 2024 contest that I tried to bring cải lương into rap as a way to renew traditional music, which many young people are interested in and love. No matter what role I play, I will try to devote myself to art, with meaningful projects, honoring traditional values," said Tieu Minh Phung.
