This is where artists not only perform their voices, but also express themselves through their fashion style, turning each of their appearances into a "fashion moment" that is enough to explode in the media.
Recently, programs such as "Beautiful Sister" (Sister Who Walks the Wind and Waves), "Say Hi Brother", "Brother Who Walks the Road" , and concerts by My Tam and Soobin... show that domestic artists are quickly catching up with world trends, turning the music stage into a real "runway" to deepen their personal brands in the hearts of the public.

Sharing about this trend, Travis Nguyen, Creative Fashion Director of Chi Dep Dap Gio (seasons 2023 - 2024) and Chi Dep Concert 2025, said: "Concert fashion is growing strongly globally. In Korea and China, concepts are invested in thoroughly, turning costumes into important artistic elements. In Vietnam, recent music shows have also focused more on costumes and concepts, especially to suit the digitalization trend and short video content on social networks."
" SILENT WEAPON"
Fashion creative director Travis Nguyen believes that fans today not only listen to music but also love and discuss the costumes artists wear on stage. According to him: "Costume is not only a beauty factor but also helps artists affirm their identity. It is a "wordless weapon" that helps convey the concept, song content and artist personality. A thorough investment in fashion is justified, because in addition to creating an image mark, it also opens up opportunities for brand collaboration, spreading media and turning artists into multi-talented people in both music and fashion."
The series of music shows and concerts that have taken place continuously recently show that artists and producers are increasingly paying attention to fashion elements. Large-scale shows all record the level of investment in elaborate, expensive costumes with clear goals. In "Beautiful Sister Riding the Wind", more than 350 costumes were prepared for 48 artists, an impressive number that shows the elaborateness and professionalism in building stage images. Singer and musician Soobin impressed with 20 costumes in a concert, accompanied by high-end jewelry from famous brands...
"Concert costumes not only beautify but also act as a "weapon" to help artists feel confident and convey the spirit of the song better. My team and I always carefully research each concept to choose the right design, especially for dance performances. For example, the material must be stretchy, safe, catch light well, ensure aesthetics, and prioritize comfort and emotion on stage. Concerts have many performances, each performance is a different concept, so we always update trends and consider audience tastes. I believe that investing in proper fashion will create impressive visual moments," shared Vu Ngoc Anh - one of the 30 artists participating in Chi Dep Dap Gio season 2.
Need a strategic map
The Vietnamese fashion industry possesses a refined aesthetic sense and extremely sophisticated tailoring skills. Many Vietnamese artists such as My Tam, Ho Ngoc Ha, Son Tung M-TP or Toc Tien have collaborated with leading domestic designers such as Le Thanh Hoa, Lam Gia Khang, Ly Qui Khanh... to create impressive performance costumes with a strong personal mark. However, according to fashion experts, there is still a lack of a systematic strategic map for concert fashion.

"We need to overcome the traditional "performance costume" mindset, to move towards building an "image ecosystem" - where concept, technique, brand and audience community operate synchronously, turning each concert into a continuous fashion story, meticulously calculated from stage lighting, camera angles, to viral effects on social networks", said Travis Nguyen.
Designer Nguyen Nhu Khoi shared that in reality, there are still many difficulties: limited budgets, low payment levels for crews, making it difficult for the quality of costumes to reach perfection. In addition, the habit of a part of the young audience is to prefer quick, short content on social networks, so the elaborate investment in costumes is sometimes not properly evaluated.
However, according to Fashion Creative Director Travis Nguyen, concert fashion is a "new fertile land" for fashionistas thanks to its endless creative space. Proper investment and preservation of identity will help Vietnamese concert fashion integrate strongly into the world music map.
