According to the VNA correspondent in Washington, the US State Department’s August 5 statement said that at the conference, the US, Canada and Mexico once again affirmed that the 2026 World Cup is a historic event, connecting the three countries as well as introducing the best of North America to the world. This is also an opportunity to strengthen a strong and dynamic regional partnership.
During the conference, a three-day expert exchange program hosted by the United States was held to promote cooperation between government officials, industry leaders and security experts to discuss joint efforts to respond to the threat of drones. Experts from partner countries also shared best practices and exchanged expertise to enhance the three countries’ joint efforts to ensure a safe World Cup.
The three North American co-hosts of the 2026 World Cup also pledged to strengthen public-private partnerships to address policy and technology gaps that could impact their ability to effectively respond to common challenges.
A roundtable with leading companies from the US, Canada and Mexico was also held, creating a platform for dialogue and innovation to draw lessons learned, explore modern solutions and improve readiness to respond to evolving threats.
The United States, Canada and Mexico High-Level Coordination Meeting is the first in a series of events designed to demonstrate the three countries' shared commitment to regional security and develop strategies to leverage and mitigate the threats posed by new technologies.
Through close coordination, information sharing and joint planning, the United States, Canada and Mexico are committed to ensuring that the 2026 FIFA World Cup is not just a sporting event, but also a testament to the strength of our partnership and shared values.
The 2026 World Cup, to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico, will be the 23rd World Cup in the history of world football. It will also be the first time the tournament will feature 48 national teams, after the last time it was held with 32 teams at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The tournament will be held in 16 cities in 3 co-host countries.
