Leaving the Hung Vuong High School (District 5) exam site in an excited mood, Nguyen Thuy Song Tra, a student at Nguyen Van To Secondary School (District 10), said that this year's 10th grade math exam was within her ability and she had enough time to do question c on plane geometry - a difficult content to classify candidates. "Overall, I did everything, except for question 2 in the practical geometry problem," the female student said.
According to the female student, this is question 6 of part b, when the question gives parameters related to a park where Hoa and Binh jog with the same starting point. This park is in the shape of a square ABCD with side a, and part b requires the candidate to find the km value of this side a. "This part is really difficult", Tra exclaimed.
Not only Tra, many candidates also told Thanh Nien that question 6, part b, is the factor that prevents them from reaching a score of 9 or higher, although the 10th grade math exam is generally considered by many to be quite within their ability. "This question requires a high level of thinking from candidates, and this is also the part I cannot solve," Le Hoang Thai An, a student at Lu Gia Secondary School (District 11), confided.

Meanwhile, Ly Vi Khang and Chu Nguyen Thien Phuc, both students at Saigon Practical High School (Saigon University), said that question 6 was "quite strange" because they had reviewed many types of questions but had never encountered this type before, while the remaining questions were quite familiar types of questions. "We struggled a bit when doing this question," the two male students shared and predicted that they would get a score of 7 or higher.
"In addition to part b of question 6, part c of question 7 was also quite 'difficult' for me," Cu Thanh Lam, a student at Lu Gia Secondary School, recalled. "In question 6, part a I proved quite quickly because the question only required calculating the time. But in part b, when the question wanted me to find the additional value of a, I had to calculate another unit of time based on AF to then convert to a pair of equal ratios. This was the first time I had seen this type of problem," Lam said.
Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, informed that the 10th grade math exam will be presented through the following knowledge streams: Geometry and Measurement; Numbers and Algebra; Statistics and Probability. The purpose of the exam is to assess mathematical abilities such as mathematical thinking and reasoning, solving mathematical problems, and mathematical modeling. Of which, there are 4 questions about practical math, accounting for 4.5 points; and the problem about plane geometry accounts for 3 points.
After the specialized subject exam, the 10th grade exam in 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City will officially end.

This afternoon (June 7), candidates will continue to take specialized exams if they register for specialized schools. According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, 76,435 candidates registered for the 2025 exam and the total enrollment target is 70,070 places, meaning about 91.7% of candidates will be admitted to public schools. On the other hand, the total target for private schools is nearly 19,500 places, helping to reduce competitive pressure compared to previous years.
