The family of Mr. Do Quang Su, Bich Doai village, Thai Nguyen commune, has 4 generations living under the same roof.
Promoting cultural values from each family
For many years, a typical cultural family of Thai Thuy district, Mrs. Pham Thi Van, Thuong Phuc village, Thuy Son commune confided: My husband passed away 13 years ago, I alone shouldered "two shoulders" as a solid support to raise three children to adulthood. Currently, I live with my eldest son and daughter-in-law. The family has three generations, including six members living together, each with a job, a personality, but always loving, respecting, sharing and building a warm home together. To maintain family happiness, the core is that grandparents and parents must live as role models; children and grandchildren must be filial and polite; family members must know how to share and accompany each other. These principles of conduct are the strong bond that connects generations, the foundation for building a cultural family in modern society.
Not only exemplary in lifestyle, Mrs. Van's family also actively contributes to the construction of new rural areas. Mr. Pham Van Dung, Head of Thuong Phuc village, said: In 2023, when the village started building a model cultural house, Mrs. Van mobilized her children and grandchildren to support more than 500 million VND. In addition, many cultural and religious works such as communal houses and temples in the village have recorded the positive contributions of the family. Members always actively respond to cultural, artistic, environmental sanitation movements, and build cultural life in residential areas. From exemplary families like Mrs. Pham Thi Van's family, the movement to build cultural life at the grassroots level has been increasingly improved in quality, spreading strongly in the community. In Thuong Phuc village alone, 490/508 households achieved the title of cultural family, accounting for 96.4%, an impressive number showing the spirit of solidarity, self-awareness and responsibility of the people in preserving and promoting good cultural values right from each family.
In Bich Doai village, Thai Nguyen commune, the family of Mr. Do Quang Su has been known for many years as one of the typical cultural families, a typical "four-generation family" with an exemplary lifestyle and a respectable family tradition. He has eight children, including five boys and three girls; now all grown up, with stable jobs. That achievement is the crystallization of Mr. Su's sacrifice, dedicated teaching and simple, exemplary life. Being a daughter-in-law in a family of four generations for nearly 40 years, Ms. Bui Thi Len, Mr. Su's daughter-in-law, shared: At nearly 90 years old and 59 years of Party membership, my father-in-law is an example for his children and grandchildren to learn from and follow. He not only plays a role in connecting generations, but is also an active person in building cultural movements in the locality, especially maintaining sports and arts clubs in the village. Continuing the family tradition, I am always aware of the role of a mother and grandmother in maintaining family traditions, teaching children and grandchildren to be filial, strictly comply with the Party's policies, the State's laws, and the rules and regulations of the residential area. Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong, Secretary of the Party Cell of Bich Doai village, Thai Nguyen commune, said: For many years, Mr. Do Quang Su's family has been recognized as a typical cultural family, honored to receive many certificates of merit from authorities at all levels. His family is a typical example of the role of the family ineducating personality, fostering ethical values, and traditional culture in the community.
Mrs. Pham Thi Van, Thuong Phuc village, Thuy Son commune is the spiritual support for her children and grandchildren.
Improve quality, increase depth of movement
Together with organizations such as the Association of the Elderly, the Association of Veterans, the Youth Union... the Women's Union of Thai Thuy district has been implementing many practical models, contributing to bringing the movement of building cultural families into depth. Ms. Do Thi Phuong Lan, President of the District Women's Union, said: The Union has more than 42,300 members. Through movements such as "Building a prosperous, equal, progressive, happy family", "Family of 5 no, 3 clean", the Union at all levels has actively promoted and equipped knowledge on reproductive health care, child-rearing skills, maintaining family happiness, preventing and combating violence, and building a safe environment for women and children. Not only spreading traditional moral values, these models also contribute to raising the sense of responsibility of each individual in the family, promoting household economic development, and forming a civilized and progressive lifestyle. From good models and specific methods, the movement has had positive changes. Many localities have implemented a systematic and strict evaluation of the title "Cultural Family". Mr. Tran Ngoc Lam, Head of the District Department of Culture, Science and Information, said: If in 2000, the whole district had 56,052 households achieving the title of cultural family (accounting for 59.49%), then up to now, this number has increased to 76,424 households, accounting for 93.1%. To achieve that result, the district has implemented many synchronous solutions such as: guiding the evaluation process, organizing propaganda in visual forms, thematic conferences, branch activities; regularly inspecting, supervising and linking the movement to build cultural families with building cultural villages, residential groups and neighborhoods. Thereby, creating a harmonious and affectionate living environment, gradually improving the quality of cultural life at the grassroots level.
Practice in Thai Thuy district shows that building a cultural family not only helps to consolidate good traditional customs and ethics, but also has profound significance in socio-economic development, ensuring political security and social order and safety at the grassroots level. Each cultural family is a healthy cell, contributing to creating a new look for the new advanced countryside and civilized urban areas.
