This is an activity in response to the movement "Join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide in 2025" launched by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 539/QD-TTg in June 2024.
So that no one is left behind
La Bang is a famous tea growing area in Thai Nguyen and the people here also rely on tea trees to develop their economy . However, there are also difficult circumstances, unable to rise up on their own, needing support from the community and benefactors.
That is the case of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Loi (60 years old), a worker at La Bang Cooperative. Widowed for a long time, she raised her child alone, and the child is sick. Now that her daughter is working far away, she continues to raise her grandchild. The image of her picking tea on the hill or packing tea with her 4-year-old grandchild beside her has become familiar at La Bang Tea Cooperative.
“My grandchild is still too young to be left alone at home. I take him with me wherever I go. Luckily, he is a good boy, just playing around with his grandmother while she works. I try to earn money to buy milk and rice, and I don’t dare dream of rebuilding the house even though it is old and dilapidated,” Mrs. Loi shared.
Unexpected joy came to her in June 2025 when the CHAGEE milk tea brand, during a training program on sustainable tea growing area development in La Bang, supported the rebuilding of the temporary house for the grandmother and her grandchild.

Farmers in difficult circumstances in La Bang ( Thai Nguyen ) receive support to eliminate temporary housing |
La Bang Cooperative, where she works, gave her land to build a solid 50 m2 house with the brand. Mrs. Loi was overwhelmed because her dream of settling down had come true, and she and her grandchild no longer had to worry about rainy nights like before.
Mr. Duong Van Nam's family in the locality has a small area of tea growing land; he takes care of his elderly mother alone while his wife works far away, and his own health is poor, so the economy is very difficult.
His house has been in disrepair for many years, so every time there is a storm, he can only pray that the roof will not blow off or collapse, because he cannot afford to fix it. Now, with the support of the CHAGEE brand, his temporary house has been rebuilt to be spacious and sturdy. "Having a new house, I can sleep peacefully at night," Mr. Nam confided.
Bringing tea trees far and wide
In addition to supporting those in difficult circumstances to settle down, the program also donated a number of electric vehicles to transport agricultural products to local people - helping to improve conditions for tea production and transportation.
This very practical support has brought joy to many disadvantaged farming families in the locality. They no longer have to worry about the rain and wind at night, no longer have to worry about their roofs rotting, so they can work with peace of mind, raise their children and grandchildren with tea plants, opening up a more sustainable future.
Mr. Duong Van Vuong, Chairman of the People's Committee of La Bang Commune (old) informed that the commune has nearly 400 hectares of tea - a famous raw material area with delicious tea products, meeting the standards of the 4-star One Commune One Product (OCOP) program.

According to Mr. Vuong, tea is the economic spearhead of the commune, thanks to tea, people's lives have gradually improved, currently the poverty rate of the whole commune is only about 1.1%. However, to increase the value of products, the application of science, technology and e-commerce is extremely urgent.
"The training course on sustainable tea development with the support of the CHAGEE milk tea brand - from tea growing techniques, processing, labor safety, to sales skills via TikTok and online channels - has opened up opportunities for people to access a larger market." - Mr. Vuong emphasized.
The training course had the participation of more than 150 people including: local people, young entrepreneurs, cooperatives, and businesses associated with local tea trees to help them improve their competitiveness in the context of a market that changes every day.

“In addition to economic development, the locality also cares about the livelihoods and spiritual and material life of local people. The new houses of disadvantaged households in La Bang, with the support of businesses, are proof of that practical concern,” said Mr. Vuong.
