This strong transformation not only contributes to changing the face of the province's agricultural sector but also repositions the role of the Central Highlands on Vietnam's high-tech agricultural map.

Large-scale investment wave
In recent years, the western region of Gia Lai has continuously been among the leading localities in the country in attracting high-tech agricultural projects.
With a temperate climate, extensive fertile red basalt soil, a synchronously invested transport infrastructure system and an increasingly improved business environment..., the Tay Gia Lai area is always attractive to domestic and foreign investors.
Up to now, the western region of the province has received 175 high-tech agricultural projects with a total investment of more than 27,000 billion VND. Of these, there are 125 livestock projects and 50 crop projects, focusing on key products such as avocado, durian, dragon fruit, coffee, pepper, banana, vegetables, flowers and medicinal herbs.
In parallel, this area has formed 18 high-tech production areas with a total area of over 3,400 hectares. The projects here all apply synchronous advanced techniques, from seed selection, care, harvesting to processing.

Many projects have been put into operation, bringing about both economic and environmental efficiency. Typical examples include the passion fruit processing factory of Quicornac Company Limited in Tra Da Industrial Park (Pleiku Ward) with a capacity of 450 tons/day; the high-tech agricultural zone of Nafoods Group in An Phu Ward with a production capacity of 4,000 seedlings/day and a processing factory with a capacity of 350 tons/day; the organic coffee production model of Vinh Hiep Company Limited in Bo Ngoong Commune with 45 hectares certified as USDA organic (USA)...
In addition, large-scale production models such as growing South American bananas in Kon Gang commune by Hung Son Company Limited; raising dairy cows with a scale of 13,000 heads according to GlobalGAP standards by Nutifood Group in Mang Yang commune; raising high-tech beef cattle by Thaco Agri Company with a scale of 70,000 heads in Ia Puch commune.
Currently, Tay Gia Lai's high-tech agricultural products have been exported to many countries, of which coffee is the main product, present in more than 60 markets around the world, mainly in Europe.
Big businesses invest in unison
Ricky Farm Group Joint Stock Company currently has 7 high-tech pig farm projects in the western region of Gia Lai province, of which 2 projects have been put into operation and 5 projects are applying for investment approval. On average, each project has an area of 14-16 hectares, a total investment of about 85 billion VND, and a scale of 32,000 pigs/year.

Mr. Hoang Thanh Tung - General Director of Ricky Farm Group Joint Stock Company - said: "The population density in the localities here is much lower than the national average. This creates conditions for the formation of safe biological buffer zones, reducing the risk of disease spread and limiting environmental conflicts. Along with the policy of encouraging reasonable conversion of land use purposes, quick procedures, the initial investment cost here is 40-60% lower than many other localities".
Thanks to this advantage, Ricky Farm has implemented 7 high-tech pig farm projects in the West of the province, each project has a scale of 32,000 pigs/year, capital of about 85 billion VND. These farms are operated in a closed model, ensuring quality control and biosafety.
Another bright spot is that Thong Do International Joint Stock Company owns the Thong Do High-Quality Seed Center (Chu Puh commune) with an area of 12 hectares, of which more than 8 hectares is a modern greenhouse system, with a capacity of over 20 million seedlings/year.
The Center's RP9 passion fruit and sweet yellow lemon varieties are supplied to many growing areas in the Central Highlands, Northwest, Central region and exported to Laos and Cambodia.
Mr. Le Van Tuyen - General Director of the Company said that Tay Gia Lai has a temperate climate, fertile red basalt soil and a convenient connection with key growing areas as well as international border gates. In particular, the province has identified passion fruit as a strategic crop until 2030, aiming to build a large raw material area for official export.

Similarly, FAGO FARM Vietnam High-Tech Livestock Development Joint Stock Company has just started construction of a pig farm project of over 30 hectares, with a scale of 2,400 sows and 30,000 pigs, with an investment capital of 300 billion VND in Ia Boong commune. This is the first project in a series of 3 high-tech livestock projects that this enterprise is implementing in the Central Highlands.
Towards national central position
According to Mr. Doan Ngoc Co - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the economic value from high-tech agriculture reaches 350-500 million VND/ha, 3-5 times higher than traditional production (about 100 million VND/ha).

The province aims to develop 33 high-tech agricultural zones by 2030 and recognize 8-10 enterprises that meet high-tech production standards. The top priority is modern, environmentally friendly processing projects that reduce manual labor and increase product value.
Mr. Dinh Huu Hoa - Deputy Director of Gia Lai Department of Finance said that in the livestock sector alone, there were 125 high-tech projects with a total capital of more than 19,000 billion VND. Of these, 52 projects have been completed and put into operation, 73 projects are being implemented with a total capital of more than 10,000 billion VND.
With a methodical investment attraction strategy, increasingly complete infrastructure, abundant human resources and an open business environment, Tay Gia Lai is gradually affirming its position as the center of high-tech agriculture in Vietnam.
In the future, the province aims to become a leading destination for international corporations in the field of clean, safe and sustainable agriculture, actively contributing to the global value chain.
