The Department of Information Security ( Ministry of Information and Communications ) has just issued a warning to new students about a series of tuition fraud tricks.

Specifically, at Saigon University, some admitted candidates received text messages asking them to pay the 2024 admission fee, with an amount of more than 6.9 million VND, to the bank account number in the scam message.
In addition, a series of universities in Ho Chi Minh City also issued warnings against the above forms of fraud.
Scammers may create fake websites that look like official school websites, or pretend to be school staff and send emails or calls asking students to provide personal information or pay tuition through unofficial methods.
The subject may also use fraudulent methods such as fake emails or fake messages to steal bank accounts or credit card information,
Faced with this scam, the Information Security Department recommends that people: check information from universities or financial institutions through official channels and contact the school directly if there is any doubt; absolutely do not click on links in emails or messages of unknown origin and do not provide personal information to unknown parties; always make tuition payments through official payment channels provided by universities or financial institutions.
In case of suspicion of being scammed, people need to immediately report to the authorities or consumer protection organizations for timely support, resolution and prevention.
