Sony is accelerating its gaming empire with a billion-dollar investment strategy in internal studios. Big deals like the $3.6 billion acquisition of Bungie (creator of Halo) have helped Sony strengthen its position.
The company aims for studios to not only create blockbusters but also maintain their inherent creativity. However, Concord's $250 million failure forced Sony to adjust its strategy.
Instead of racing for the number of live-service games, the company focuses on the diversity of experiences. Sony applies rigorous testing and encourages sharing of experience between studios. Astro Bot is expected to become the new icon of PlayStation, on par with Mario.
Still, Sony faces challenges balancing innovation, profits and shareholder pressure. Dear readers, please watch more videos: When livestream becomes an economic sector: After the boom, it must be tightened | VTV24
