On July 26, in Lam Dong province, a conference was held to review the coordination of management and connection of safe agricultural and food consumption between Ho Chi Minh City and this locality in 2024.
Ms. Pham Khanh Phong Lan, Director of the Department of Food Safety (ATTP) of Ho Chi Minh City, said that last year, Lam Dong province had 5 establishments participating in the Project to build a pilot model for food management according to the "Safe Food Chain" for vegetables, tubers, fruits, and pork products supplied to the Ho Chi Minh City market.
Up to now, Lam Dong province has 18 establishments participating in the above project, including 12 vegetable and fruit establishments (total output of 19,888 tons/year) and 6 chain pork farming establishments (total output of 8,081 tons/year, accounting for nearly 7% of the total output of the pork chain participating in the project to supply to consumers in Ho Chi Minh City).
The Department of Food Safety has coordinated with departments and branches to create favorable conditions for agricultural and food production establishments of Lam Dong province to have products consumed in Ho Chi Minh City.

The authorities also support information, propaganda, training, and promotion for establishments producing quality, safe products; help consumers identify quality, safe agricultural, forestry, and fishery products through mass media, communication publications, etc.
Regarding the coordination of inspection, supervision and handling of food safety violations, through statistics and establishment of a database to serve management work, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety recorded that 79 production facilities in Lam Dong province have achieved safety certification for fresh agricultural, forestry and aquatic products supplied to Ho Chi Minh City.
In 2024, the Department of Food Safety took 332 samples of vegetables and fruits originating from Lam Dong province to test for pesticide residues. The test results showed that 331/332 samples (accounting for more than 99%) were safe for pesticide residues.
Only one sample (0.003%) detected pesticide residue exceeding the prescribed level. All establishments with product samples violating regulations were informed by the competent authorities in Ho Chi Minh City to the Department of Agriculture and Environment (DARD) of Lam Dong province to coordinate food safety control.

According to the leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety, in the coming time, this agency will continue to implement the "Safe Food Chain" Project with Lam Dong province; organize inspection and supervision of food safety for products consumed in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Department of Food Safety requested the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province to guide agricultural production establishments to periodically report on output and types consumed in Ho Chi Minh City and self-inspection and supervision of production processes and quality of the establishments.
Mr. Nguyen Hoang Phuc, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province, shared that this conference was organized with many goals, such as evaluating the implementation results of the "Safe Food Chain", a coordination program of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment (MARD) with Ho Chi Minh City and between Ho Chi Minh City and Lam Dong province.
At the same time, the conference helps connect and introduce key products, regional specialties, OCOP products... produced in Lam Dong province that have implemented traceability.
Leaders of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province asked delegates, especially businesses, to exchange, discuss and propose useful solutions to bring safe agricultural products of Lam Dong province to more consumers in Ho Chi Minh City in the coming time.
