The simultaneous commencement of many projects is an effort by the authorities to speed up the progress of Component 4 Project with the basic goal of completion by the end of 2025, ensuring synchronization with the entire Long Thanh Airport Project Phase 1.
6 projects are being implemented
In mid-June, Vietnam Airlines Corporation and its member units officially started two large-scale infrastructure projects at Long Thanh Airport, including providing the No. 1 airline catering service and construction and operating the No. 1 aircraft maintenance service.
According to Mr. Le Duc Canh, Deputy General Director of Vietnam Airlines, the two projects have a total investment of nearly 1.8 trillion VND, implemented by Vietnam Air Catering Services Company Limited (VACS) and Vietnam Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (VAECO). These are all key member units of Vietnam Airlines. The goal is to form a synchronous, modern and internationally-standardized exploitation ecosystem at Vietnam's future transit airport.
In the conclusion announcement of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha at the meeting to deploy the Long Thanh Airport Project Phase 1 on June 12, the Deputy Prime Minister requested the Ministry of Construction to urgently select investors for the cargo delivery warehouses No. 5-8 to ensure synchronous investment in Long Thanh Airport Phase 1 to meet 5-star standards, put into synchronous operation, and effectively exploit the works before December 31, 2025.
Regarding the fuel pipeline system project from the upstream port to the project boundary, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee urgently selected investors according to regulations, to be completed in July 2025 to promptly implement the project.
Meanwhile, Mr. Hoang Xuan Hiep, General Director of VACS, said that the No. 1 Aviation Catering Service Investment and Business Project implemented by the unit was built on a land area of over 30.6 thousand m2 with a total preliminary investment of about 687 billion VND. In the first phase, the factory has the capacity to provide 20 thousand meals/day and will be expanded to 40 thousand meals/day according to the development progress of Long Thanh Airport. The food processing and preservation line is designed according to international standards, meeting the strict standards of 5-star airlines. Integrating a quality management system and food hygiene and safety meeting international standards such as ISO 45001:2018, 22000:2018, 9001:2015...
"In particular, VACS has a HALAL kitchen area with a completely closed and separate process, up to 1,672m² wide. Besides serving Vietnam Airlines, VACS also aims to serve domestic and international airlines" - Mr. Hoang Xuan Hiep said.
Project of Construction and Business of Aircraft Maintenance Service No. 1 - Integrated Aviation Technical Complex, including: hangar capable of simultaneously maintaining 2 wide-body aircraft (Code E) and 2 narrow-body aircraft (Code C), along with equipment workshops, technical areas, material warehouses and auxiliary systems. Minimum designed maintenance capacity of 250 thousand Mhrs/year, expected to serve from
120-150 aircraft maintenance operations per year. “This is expected to be one of the most modern aviation technical centers in Vietnam, providing line maintenance and base maintenance services for aircraft such as Airbus A320, A321, A350 or Boeing 787…” - Mr. Tran Quoc Hoai, General Director of VAECO, said.
Before these two projects, two other projects under Component Project 4 have started construction. specifically, on May 25, Saigon - Long Thanh Ground Services Company Limited started the Project No. 2 for Investment in Construction and Business of Repair and Maintenance Services for Aviation Vehicles, Equipment and Ground Technical and Commercial Services.
Meanwhile, in mid-April, Vietnam Aviation Catering Services Joint Stock Company (VINACS) broke ground on the Project to invest in construction and business of aviation catering services No. 2 at Long Thanh Airport.
According to the Ministry of Construction, with Component Project 4, Long Thanh Airport Project Phase 1, in addition to the 4 projects that have started construction and broken ground, the aircraft maintenance area projects (hangar) No. 1 and No. 4 are implementing investment procedures.
Speed up investment progress of remaining projects
Component 4 Project, Long Thanh Airport Phase 1 Project has 17 construction items corresponding to 17 construction investment projects. Based on the considerations study report prepared by international consultants and recommendations from the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, the Ministry of Construction has approved the list of projects under Component 4 Project that need to be prioritized for investment to ensure the operation of Long Thanh Airport Phase 1, including 8 projects.
Regarding priority projects, in addition to the 6 projects being implemented, the Ministry of Construction requires relevant units to speed up the progress of the remaining 2 projects, including hangar projects 2 and 3.
Meanwhile, for the two hangar projects No. 5 and 6, after receiving a document from the Ministry of Construction on the cancellation of the bidding for investor selection, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is implementing the next procedures according to legal regulations to carry out the bidding.
For the projects of cargo terminal No. 2, express cargo terminal, cargo warehouse No. 1, and cargo warehouse No. 5-8, after receiving the Prime Minister's instructions on the policy of selecting investors in special cases, the Ministry of Construction will organize the implementation of investor selection according to regulations.
At the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the No. 1 airline catering project and the No. 1 aircraft maintenance service construction and operation project at Long Thanh Airport in mid-June, Mr. Uong Viet Dung, Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, said that previously, the implementation of items in Component 4 of the Long Thanh Airport Project encountered many difficulties. However, up to now, the construction of all items has been synchronized and accelerated to meet the deadline as planned.
Mr. Uong Viet Dung requested the orders to speed up construction and pay attention to ensure quality. The investors must establish gantt charts for each project and regulate construction during the rainy season to ensure the progress committed to the Government, paying attention to technical standards, environmental sanitation, construction safety, and project aesthetics...
