Infrastructure is invested synchronously and modernly
The project will be implemented from 2018 to June 30, 2024, with a total investment of more than 11,434 million USD (about 258,111 billion VND) including 4 key items: Trung Giang, Gio Hai, Cua Viet community beaches and Cua Viet tourist port. These are all projects that play a strategic role in developing marine tourism, increasing connectivity and promoting the local economy .
Up to now, the items have been completed, three community beaches have been handed over to Gio Linh District People's Committee for exploitation, serving both tourists and local people. These works are designed in a modern, environmentally friendly manner and integrated with accompanying water supply and drainage systems, contributing to creating a civilized and attractive coastal urban landscape. Cua Viet tourist port, one of the important highlights, has been handed over to Con Co Island District People's Committee. Currently, sectors and localities are urgently completing procedures on management models, operation plans, and long-term, effective exploitation.
Creating momentum for tourism and marine economy development
Not only completing the infrastructure, the project also brings about clear socio-economic impacts, especially in regional connectivity and international integration. The modern infrastructure system creates conditions for Quang Tri to become the gateway to sea and island tourism of the North Central region, connecting with localities such as Quang Binh, Hue, Da Nang in the inter-regional tourism chain of the GMS.
The exploitation of beaches and tourist ports will promote investment in the service, resort, culinary and transportation sectors. This will not only increase budget revenue but also create stable jobs, improve income and quality of life for coastal residents. In addition, community beaches are also living, entertainment and event spaces for local communities. Combining infrastructure investment with vocational training and raising tourism awareness among people will help consolidate the foundation for sustainable tourism development.
According to Mr. Ho Van Hoan, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Tri, the actual effectiveness of the project will depend largely on the operation and management after investment. It is necessary to complete the settlement procedures soon, and at the same time develop a plan for management and exploitation, in the form of community management, public-private partnership or socialization to ensure effective exploitation of public assets.
Regarding Cua Viet tourist port, Mr. Hoan emphasized: “The announcement of the seaport and its operation is a key condition for developing tourist routes connecting the mainland and Con Co island, a destination that is increasingly attracting tourists. Along with that, the work of promoting investment and improving the quality of tourist services also needs to be strengthened to increase the value of invested projects.”
The sub-project “Developing tourism infrastructure to support comprehensive growth of the GMS - Phase 2” in Quang Tri is a testament to the determination to develop a locality with many difficulties but rich in potential. The completion of key tourism infrastructure projects, combined with key transport infrastructure “coastal connecting the East-West Economic Corridor” has created momentum for Quang Tri to make a breakthrough, contributing to the comprehensive growth of the GMS region and the whole country.
With a clear development strategy, Quang Tri is ready to enter a new development phase, rising to become a dynamic gateway for tourism in the Mekong Sub-region.
