Russian troops cut the railway north of Pokrovsk, breaking into the city
Russian troops intensified their breakthrough in the northeastern region of Pokrovsk, as they began an offensive on Krasny Liman, capturing the northern town of Rodinske.

The Russian Armed Forces (RFAF) continue to encircle the Pokrovsk-Mirnograd region, especially the area northeast of the city. On August 3, DivGen reported that Russian troops had begun an attack on the outskirts of the village of Chervonyi (Krasny) Liman and had broken into the village. The village of Chervonyi Liman, south of the town of Rodinskoye, is on the northeastern outskirts of Pokrovsk. Some sources say the Russians entered the area in mid-July, but it is possible that they were just reconnaissance teams. At the same time, the Russians were concentrating their forces on Mirnograd from the northeast.
Earlier, Rybar channel reported that Russian troops had captured the Krasnolimanskaya mine and started an attack to seize the Rodinskaya mine near the eastern suburb of Rodinske. Russian troops are determined to hold Shakhtyorskoy Slavy Street as a bridgehead, from which they can enter the city from the east. At the same time, the Russian army also focused on attacking, capturing Suhetskoye, cutting off the Dobropolye-Pokrovsk highway. Currently, the Ukrainian side has only one route that can supply Pokrovsk, through Grishino. Meanwhile, the Russian army on the western flank is also trying to attack, breaking through to Grishino from the Kotline and Udache bridgeheads. Currently, Grishino is the "key" for the RFAF to encircle the entire Pokrovsk-Mirnograd area. The Military Summary channel reported that the RFAF Central Group of Forces has captured the village of Dorozhnoye with the Mertsalovo railway station, as well as the village of Sukhetske, located northeast of the town of Rodinskoye. Thus, it can be seen that the RFAF is determined to break into Pokrovsk from this direction, and not from the south, as the commander of the Pokrovsk Group of Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had calculated. According to the Russian TV channel "Whispers of the Front", the shock troops of the RFAF Central Group of Forces are advancing towards Dobropillya, the logistics center for the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad front. Currently, the Russian troops have captured the Mertsalovo railway station and the village of Dorozhnoye, located east of Dobropillya. Military Summary reported that Russian troops had cut off the Dobropillya-Pokrovsk highway, an important supply route for the Ukrainian army group in Pokrovsk. Military Summary also confirmed that the situation in the Rodinske town area was developing rapidly, with AFU withdrawing from the Krasnolimanskaya mine, the second largest coal mine in Donetsk.
Currently, Russian war correspondent Yuri Kotenok is following the shock troops of the RFAF Group Center, reporting directly from the front line. On August 3, Kotenok said that RFAF special forces, reconnaissance and infantry units were active in the area of Pokrovsk city, so the AFU formed and deployed mobile teams to prevent Russian troops from entering the city. Kotenok stressed that the situation in the northern part of the Pokrovsk-Mirnograd urban area is becoming extremely critical for the AFU. However, the Ukrainian army has achieved certain successes in the Vladimirovka area, thanks to the continued deployment of reinforcements there. On the other hand, the RFAF is having success in many other areas of the Pokrovsk front. For example, they are achieving good results in the area between Shakhovo and Novoye Shakhovo towards Volnoye (about 10 km east of the Dobropolye logistics center). In addition, Russian units controlled most of Nikanorovka, but Ukrainian troops remained northwest of the village; while Russian troops were advancing toward Belitskoye; they occupied the southern part of the village of Mertsalovo. The settlements of Suvorovo and Sukhetskoye were completely overrun by Russian troops and a path was opened to the north of the town of Rodinske, in the area of the Rodinskaya railway station.
Kotenok also reported that the RFAF has also captured the Krasnolimanskaya mine and is fighting to capture the Rodinskaya mine near the eastern outskirts of the city of Rodinske. Russian troops have also entered the northeastern area of the village of Krasny Liman, where street fighting with Ukrainian troops is taking place. The most important thing, according to Kotenok, is that RFAF units have broken through the AFU fortified area in the Stakhanov mine area and reached the northeastern outskirts of Mirnohrad. At the same time, east of Mirnohrad, Russian troops continue to push Ukrainian troops out of their positions in the Balagan-Moskovskoye-Promin area. South of Mirnohrad, RFAF units are attacking Ukrainian positions on the outskirts of the city and fighting to retake Sukhoi Yar. The railway line near the northern outskirts of the town of Rodinske has been completely cut off, and the M-30 highway is being blocked by Russian fire in the area of the Vodyanoy Yar ravine (5 km south of Grishino). The continued advance of the RFAF will lead to the active encirclement of the AFU groups entrenched in the Pokrovsk-Mirnohrad-Rodinske urban triangle, with a 5 km "choke point" for withdrawal. To avoid falling into a similar predicament, the AFU Pokrovsk Group Command has sent additional reserves to Mirnohrad and Grishino. Fierce counterattacks are underway in these sectors of the front.
Kotenok also reported that Russian assault units on the western flank of Pokrovsk are trying to break through to Grishino, from the bridgehead in the Kotlino-Udachnoye area. The Grishino area has become the "key" to encircling the entire Pokrovsk-Mirnograd group. The fighting here is extremely fierce.
