On July 23, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc, member of the National Assembly delegation of Gia Lai province, met with voters of Quy Nhon ward.

Here, voters made recommendations on many issues related to fighting counterfeit and poor quality goods; fraud via cyberspace; development orientation after the merger; in particular, some voters emphasized the current "chaotic" state of textbooks.

According to Ms. Do Thi Thu Huyen, a voter of Quy Nhon ward, Gia Lai province, currently, primary and secondary schools in Quy Nhon ward in particular and the whole country in general use many sets of textbooks, causing a lot of impact on parents and students; especially students when transferring schools or giving books to students in difficult circumstances.

On the other hand, it causes difficulties in professional management because each school uses a different set of textbooks. Ms. Huyen hopes that leaders at all levels will pay attention and unify the use of one set of textbooks nationwide to make it easier for schools to implement.

In addition, Ms. Huyen also believes that school councils in public schools should be abolished because they are ineffective.

Responding to voters' opinions on each school having a set of textbooks, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc said that he had previously discussed with the Minister of Education and Training why we don't build one set of books but have to make many sets of books?

“When we were studying, the whole country had only one set of textbooks. After finishing, the older brother passed it on to the younger brother. When we determined that high school was universal, it meant that the level of education between the mountainous and lowland areas or the plains and urban areas was the same. We are taking in the opinions of voters today to send to the Minister of Education and Training for research,” said Mr. Phoc.

The Deputy Prime Minister also proposed to develop a set of textbooks and publish them as e-books for free distribution to the people, so that our children do not have to buy textbooks. However, there are many different opinions on this in the National Assembly forum, so it needs time to be studied.
