Taiwan's Taipei city will host a rare Chinese delegation this month when a vice mayor of Shanghai attends the annual forum, Reuters reported.
Shanghai Vice Mayor Hua Yuan will visit Taipei from December 16-17 to attend the Taipei-Shanghai City Forum, held for the first time since 2010, Reuters quoted Taipei City government spokesman En Wei as saying on December 4.
"This year is the 15th time this event has been held and 45 memorandums of understanding have been signed in the past, which is a very good result for exchanges between the two cities on both sides of the Taiwan Strait," Mr. An emphasized.

Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an is a member of the main opposition Kuomintang party, which supports close cross-strait ties and dialogue, although he denies supporting Beijing, according to Reuters. Chiang visited Shanghai last year to attend the city forum.
China has been conducting military activities near Taiwan recently, including regularly sending fighter jets into airspace around the island.
