“The inspiration for the song "Thuong Em" came from a friend's unhappy love story. His lover, for some unavoidable reasons, had to marry someone else. After that, my friend fell into a breakdown, depression, and had to accept that he had lost a beautiful, promising love,” he shared.
When putting this material into the song, musician Hung Quan conveyed with sympathy and understanding the loss and regret in love. He wanted to convey the story with simple sounds, evoking deep nostalgia. This was agreed and appreciated by Phan Dinh Tung.
Therefore, musician Hung Quan decided to depict the above story with a ballad song that tends to return to the old decade.
