Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son has just signed a decision to recognize Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Trung Tinh, Vice Rector of Can Tho University, to hold the position of Rector of this university for the 2020-2025 term. The decision takes effect from December 28, 2023.
Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Trung Tinh takes on the new assignment to replace Professor, Dr. Ha Thanh Toan, who will retire from the end of October 2023.

Previously, on October 30, 2023, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Phuong, Chairman of the University Council of Can Tho University, signed and issued Resolution No. 126 on assigning the task of being in charge of Can Tho University. According to this resolution, the University Council of Can Tho University assigned Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Trung Tinh, Vice Rector for the 2020-2025 term, to be in charge of Can Tho University from November 1, 2023 until the decision of the Minister of Education and Training recognizes the Rector of Can Tho University for the 2020-2025 term.
Mr. Tran Trung Tinh graduated from Can Tho University in 1997 and in 2004 he graduated with a master's degree from Gyoengsang National University, Korea. In 2007, Mr. Tran Trung Tinh graduated with a doctorate from Gyoengsang National University, Korea and qualified as an associate professor in electrical engineering in 2013.
Currently, the Board of Directors of Can Tho University includes Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Trung Tinh and two vice principals, Professor, Dr. Tran Ngoc Hai and Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung. In the near future, the school will appoint one more vice principal.
