Onana doubled his income after being kicked out of MU

Andre Onana has agreed to join Trabzonspor on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season, doubling his salary thanks to a signing-on fee and bonuses.

Onana had to leave to save her career.

The Cameroon goalkeeper is expected to fly to Türkiye on September 11 after the two clubs finalise the deal. Manchester United will not receive a loan fee and the contract does not include an option to buy at the end of the season.

Onana's future at Old Trafford has been in doubt all summer, after Manchester United were on the lookout for a new goalkeeper and finally signed Senne Lammens from Antwerp for £21.7m last week. Despite reports claiming Onana would stay, Manchester United still want him to leave.

The opportunity came as Trabzonspor prepared to sell goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir to Galatasaray, and the loan deal for Onana was quickly pushed through before the Turkish transfer window closed on September 12.

Since joining Manchester United from Inter Milan for £47.2m two years ago, Onana has been inconsistent and has made just one appearance this season - in a humiliating defeat to Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup - and made another error.

Onana's situation was made more difficult when he missed the entire pre-season with a hamstring injury on the second day back to training in July. After Manchester United bought Lammens, Onana's future at Old Trafford was considered to be in jeopardy, although he still had three years left on his contract with the "Red Devils".

Therefore, moving to Türkiye was a necessary step to save his career. Onana had nothing to lose when his income doubled.
