Message from the principal
On the day of receiving her new assignment, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Thu Huong sent a profound message about her past and upcoming journey. PNVN Newspaper would like to quote the full text of the message from the new Principal of Foreign Trade University.
"Dear generations of cadres, lecturers, students, individuals and accompanying organizations!
30 years ago, when I entered Foreign Trade University at the age of 18, every day that passed I felt that this was the place where I could reflect on my own values, freely pursue my passion and personality, express my emotions when happy, sad, angry or hurt. Foreign Trade gave me the confidence and desire to explore the world to find the bright golden sunshine where I could burn myself out for my dreams and I truly felt that Foreign Trade was my home, the place to return to.
30 years later, in my new position as Principal of Foreign Trade University, I have the aspiration to accompany the school's teaching staff in implementing the development strategy to make Foreign Trade University one of the leading universities in Asia, a place that respects academic freedom, encourages creative research, develops a training model associated with promoting thinking and the ability to master the context, overcomes prejudices about educational values, nurtures dreams and ambitions, and aims for positive impact and sustainable development.
I was truly moved when listening to students share about the feeling of no longer being self-conscious about their own circumstances, about experiences that I never believed were possible before, about the confidence in the journey to conquer dreams and about the desire to share and help the disadvantaged when coming to Foreign Trade. Over time, I have also felt more and more deeply about the educational ideal that I want to pursue when I am attached to Foreign Trade through the simple joys shared by colleagues after each class, when I have meaningful research results or when participating in community programs and the endless pride of teachers in the maturity of students.

As the first autonomous university in the higher education system, having gone through many challenges and paying a high price, we have learned to overcome ourselves and dare to take on new challenges. Therefore, the mindset of "nothing is impossible" and the motto of "differentiation to lead" have permeated the development strategy, action program and the way of educating learners of the University. We are proud of our extensive domestic and international cooperation network, and always commit to effectively implementing cooperation programs with the view that any resources coming to us bring value. We wish to work with the subjects in the global education ecosystem to nurture the ability to conquer unprecedented challenges and seize breakthrough development opportunities from the context of strong impact of technology and unpredictable fluctuations of the world.
With pride and belief in the unique values of Foreign Trade University, with the desire to share and receive ideas, thinking and breakthrough solutions to overcome challenges from the context, with the utmost respect, I look forward to welcoming generations of staff, lecturers, students and parents, scientists, experts, partners and interested people to Foreign Trade University to co-create sustainable values for the community and society."
